What are the advantages, if any, is it to have a larger mm external wastegate(i.e. 35, 38, 40, 60, ect).

Do larger ones just handle more boost better? What exactly is the 'mm spec' refering to? The opening? Spring?

Thanks.

mm should be the opening and exit, the larger the wastegate the better it can handle high boost with out boost creep,

I'll just cut to the chase and say go with the 40mm. Too large of a wastegate can cause issues as well... this has to do with boost response and maintaining exhaust flow velocity to create scavenging.

the stock TB for the SR is like 50 or 60mm anyways im pretty sure so there really isnt any point in going larger in my opinion.

The wastegate and TB (throttle body) are not related in any way shape or form J-spec :P

35 or 40mm wastegate is all you'll need on a motor that size.
