Wash mitts and car wash stuff...

I am curious to what everyone uses in this department.....

Right now I have a wool wash mitt, and I dont like it very much, os I think some gonna get one of those chenile (sp) wash mitts... the ones that have all the little white tassle things... Seems softer... the one I have seems to cut through the wax after a few washes... No flaming to use 5 star right now, I dont wanna spend $50 or so when I have things that need MUCH more attention than that.....

Im using this rain-x stuff I got from meijer..... Its got "wax beads" but I like it because it foams very nicely and gives nice suds......

You shouldnt have to wash out there..... Just use the leaf blower to blow off the dust, we get stuff called RAIN out here!!!

Yeah, but when it rains in AZ it's called MUD.

We also get a lot of asphalt funk from the superheated blacktop slinging all over the place... Turns into a liquid at 160 degrees.

I use a 50-cent sponge. For waxing I use cotton diaper cloths I picked up at Autozone.

For instance, when I used my wash mitt last itme, I could see the area where I had just washed when the water beaded up, there was a "line" where it sorta cut through the wax..... I dont think its supposed to do that.....

I have a sponge i think ill try that.....

I like the cotton wash mit that you mentioned. I dry with the Absorber and use Zymoil car wash and wax. At some point I want to upgrade to Zanio polish...

I have a synthetic chamois that I love... However its getting kinda dirty from places I missed.....

Anyone know of a good way to clean a chamois???

there was a "line" where it sorta cut through the wax..... I dont think its supposed to do that.....

Cheap wax - Not worth the effort it takes to apply it.

I use a cotton mitt and sythetic chamois. The only bad thing about the mitt is that it sheds little white fibers for a few washes, not a happening thing with a black car! You can clean the chamois by running it through the clothes washer with detergent, the synthetic ones are real tough.

The Absorber can be cleaned the same way... and you can just put it back in it's plastic tube from the wash. Somehow it doesn't sour like I would expect!

Just be sure not to use any fabric softeners with it, as they will leave a greasy residue.

I will try the washer thing... I ddnt know if that was too harsh or what.....

I had the same thing when I had one of those cotton things... The little fibers kept getting stuck like on the door handles and such..... Kind of a PITA to get off.....

About the Chenille wash mitts they are NOT the best. The type to use is a "genuine Sheepskin mitt"(Like the one you already have)BUT Make sure it's a natural sheepsking mitt. Look inside and make sure it is leather inside(100% rule to tell a real sheepskin mitt and not synthetic) If yours isnt Here's a good one

Since I put 5-Star on my car, I really don't have to worry about a wash mit that much. I do however have a wool mit that I use if there is some particular bug juice or road tar that has trouble coming off with the power wash.
