I paid 16k (US) for a 2011 Rogue S with AWD.

40,500 miles. Nissan Certified - 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

So far, I really like the car. Seems fast. Comfortable, quiet, and best of all, I can put my bike in it without taking any wheels off. I've never owned an SUV before, so a lot of new and different stuff.

I'm also getting better than 30 mph highway. Is that normal?

welcome to the rogue boards. :welcome:

i recently bought my used 2008 Rogue SL awd in January with 28k on it. its the fully loaded SL with leather package. I negotiated it down to $18k flat. They asked if i wanted to go the Nissan Certified route, and i denied it because it cost $300, and i would need to get all my service done at the dealer. i do 90% of my own service, so that wouldn't have helped me anyway. what you gained in age, you lost in options. its always give & take.

I have relied upon Nissan for the last 10yrs through many cars(99 altima/02 maxima/00 I30/08 rogue(all purchased used), and 10 G37. All have gone through 150,000miles + and were sold off with great value(except the rogue & g37, only 30k so far still got them). The only thing that worries me in any car is the transmission = and in the 2008-2010 rogues we had the 120,000miles/10yr warranty extended free of charge from Nissan USA. Thats what sold me on this car.

You can browse this rogue forum for a wealth of knowledge, experience, and cool upgrades of all sorts- that you wont find elsewhere. This forum is run unlike others; its easy going, friendly, non-competitive, and great for those with minimal tool-time. Feel free to ask questions, search the threads, and look at the DIY/INFO section link in my signature. Take a peek at the photo album sections for some idea's, and post a pic of your new SUV in there if you wish. :dblthumb:

is your SL with leather? i know some folks for some reason have the SL, but they dont have leather(the SL always confuses me)

i purchased my SL with leather mid winter (January) and in the winter SUV's are always more expensive, by at least $1,000. (same with coupes in the summer)
Plus Rogues are like GOLD to nissan dealers. Those who want a nissan SUV often end up in a Rogue. Not everyone can afford a murano, and certainly even less want to afford the Armada or the pathfinder due to the crappy MPG's and initial sticker shock. so the rogue is the next best thing and easily accessible to anyone who also wants options like leather, xenon's, awd, etc. Pus at only 4cyl - its also very economical.
PLUS: when they sell new cars, there is dealer incentive from Corporate. Dealers are always competing against others on who can sell more, and the winning dealerships gets awards, the salesman with the highest sold gets a large bonus, etc. So there is more incentive to bring a new car down to invoice, because in the end the bonus is worth it. When it comes to used, the demand is there now a days - but no incentive to have a large number of cars sold. The demand in this tough economy is the only driving factor to selling the large volumes of used cars.

My uncle has a small dealership and is at the auto auctions couple times per week. He says that there are certain cars that are bought up by dealers at higher prices, because dealers want those specific cars- since consumers are always asking for them. thats also what drives up the price; since more dealers are bidding on the cars at these auctions, their initial purchase is higher, then add in their profit margin and the sticker price is even higher. the rogue is really a sought after car. my fully loaded $18,000 @ 28,000miles in amazing condition was actually a very fair market price at the time.

I know KBB isnt the best source for prices, but i just ran my car through its little price estimator:
(awd/leather/power seats/tow package/sunroof/tinted windows/multi cd/bose radio)
Private Party Value (when selling the car yourself)
Excellent Condition: $18,348
Very Good Condition: $17,848

Dealer Value: (when buying from a dealer)
Excellent Condition: $20,483
Certified Pre-owned: $20,833

my car had a clean carfax with full dealer maintenance history from the prior lease, and it had 1 scratch on the whole car about 1 inch in length and it was a hair in width. 1 tire had a bump from a pot hole, so they threw in 2 free tires to match. i also got 1 free oil change(that i wont even use anyway, dont like anyone touching my car).
I brought it home, and changed the engine air filter, all 3 window wipers, cabin filter, and did an oil change - to start my own maintenance records.

Yep, highway milage is normal. Here's a quick price check from NADA (didn't know what accessories, so I guessed):

Yes, mine has everything, heated leather seats, Nav, backup cam, AWD, heated side mirrors, auto lights, moonroof, rails, adjustible head lights. etc... 26k

Seems like a better deal to pay 8k more to get new with no miles. But i guess if you dont want to add the extra dollars or cant add them, it is ok.

@ImStricken, the SL is the SV with all the bells and whistles (leather, Bose, etc.).
@OP, the milage is a bit high for my taste, but Nissan is really good with there warranties.

Just for kicks here's mine...

found an interesting piece today, that confirms my thoughts i wrote prior:
Buyers who find the price of a new car too steep are not catching much of a break on the used-car lot.

Dealers are fetching just 11.5 percent less for a one-year-old used car than for a comparable new car, according to Kelley Blue Book, in what amounts to the narrowest gap in the 14 years the company has tracked the prices.

“They’ve retained their value fairly well,” James Appleton, the president of the New Jersey Coalition of Automotive Retailers, a trade group, said of late-model used cars.

The gap between the prices of new and used cars forces buyers to look at the market anew. They have been conditioned to believe that they can save thousands by purchasing a nearly new vehicle.

Some models have virtually closed the gap. A year-old Chevrolet Camaro LT, for instance, sold for an average of $25,135 in the most recent survey of actual prices paid, only $126 less than the average paid for a new 2012.

A 2011 Toyota 4Runner SR5 was only $254 less.

“It’s just crazy,” says Juan Flores, Kelley Blue Book’s director of vehicle valuation.

Consumers are running into such scenarios as the one at Circle Auto Group in Shrewsbury. The price of a new Hyundai Sonata is $22,000 to $24,000. The price of a Hyundai Sonata from the same model year with 12,000 miles is nearly $19,000.

Donald DeFelice, business development manager for the dealer, said used-car prices have been aided by manufacturer programs that certify that the vehicles run as good as new. And consumers seem to agree that there’s little distinction; they are content with saving $20 to $60 a month instead of haggling for deeper discounts, he said.

“The difference between $299 and $255 for a lot of people is a huge amount of money per month,” DeFelice said.

Used-car prices have risen in recent years as supply, particularly of late-model cars, has shrunk: Fewer people traded in vehicles because of a tough economy and credit squeeze.

At the depths of the recession, car leasing, a big source of recent-vintage used cars, all but dried up. And the overall quality of vehicles has risen, so consumers are not as fearful of holding onto an older car.

Meanwhile, automakers have cut new-car manufacturing to try to keep supply in line with demand, also leading to higher resale values.

“There’s just not the supply of late-model used vehicles that there used to be,” Appleton said.

The narrow gap between new and slightly used cars will not last, says Tom Kontos, chief economist for Adesa, which runs used-car wholesale auctions.

Supply will rise again, lowering prices.

“At some point, something has to give,” Kontos said.

Flores, too, thinks buyers will come to their senses.

“As long as the consumer has not been hiding under a rock, they should get a good sense that the price of a new and used vehicle are close together and that they should buy new,” he said.

For now, buyers are stretched thin. Jerry Ojeda, sales manager at World Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram in Shrewsbury, said his dealership is seeing more inquiries for used cars.

“They’ll still go with a used car to save $20, $30, $40 a month,” Ojeda said.

I would say it is a fair price, I paid $15,200 for my '08 certified rogue with almost 26K miles on it. I was checking at a '10 Rogue SL with all the expensive toys and 50K miles on it but the stealership wanted 5K more for it. So I decided to go with the base model and less mileage.
