is your SL with leather? i know some folks for some reason have the SL, but they dont have leather(the SL always confuses me)
i purchased my SL with leather mid winter (January) and in the winter SUV's are always more expensive, by at least $1,000. (same with coupes in the summer)
Plus Rogues are like GOLD to nissan dealers. Those who want a nissan SUV often end up in a Rogue. Not everyone can afford a murano, and certainly even less want to afford the Armada or the pathfinder due to the crappy MPG's and initial sticker shock. so the rogue is the next best thing and easily accessible to anyone who also wants options like leather, xenon's, awd, etc. Pus at only 4cyl - its also very economical.
PLUS: when they sell new cars, there is dealer incentive from Corporate. Dealers are always competing against others on who can sell more, and the winning dealerships gets awards, the salesman with the highest sold gets a large bonus, etc. So there is more incentive to bring a new car down to invoice, because in the end the bonus is worth it. When it comes to used, the demand is there now a days - but no incentive to have a large number of cars sold. The demand in this tough economy is the only driving factor to selling the large volumes of used cars.
My uncle has a small dealership and is at the auto auctions couple times per week. He says that there are certain cars that are bought up by dealers at higher prices, because dealers want those specific cars- since consumers are always asking for them. thats also what drives up the price; since more dealers are bidding on the cars at these auctions, their initial purchase is higher, then add in their profit margin and the sticker price is even higher. the rogue is really a sought after car. my fully loaded $18,000 @ 28,000miles in amazing condition was actually a very fair market price at the time.
I know KBB isnt the best source for prices, but i just ran my car through its little price estimator:
(awd/leather/power seats/tow package/sunroof/tinted windows/multi cd/bose radio)
Private Party Value (when selling the car yourself)
Excellent Condition: $18,348
Very Good Condition: $17,848
Dealer Value: (when buying from a dealer)
Excellent Condition: $20,483
Certified Pre-owned: $20,833
my car had a clean carfax with full dealer maintenance history from the prior lease, and it had 1 scratch on the whole car about 1 inch in length and it was a hair in width. 1 tire had a bump from a pot hole, so they threw in 2 free tires to match. i also got 1 free oil change(that i wont even use anyway, dont like anyone touching my car).
I brought it home, and changed the engine air filter, all 3 window wipers, cabin filter, and did an oil change - to start my own maintenance records.
