Ok, that definitely gives a better picture of your situation.
Either way you go, you'll get about the same value in a vehicle for your money. Since this is first car ever, your best bet is to go with the car that is most mechanically sound, regardless of make. I, as well as many others on this forum, can attest to specifics of why we like our Sentra/G20s over other makes and models.
I myself really believe that Nissan does a good job of presenting a reliable, satisfying product. My first car was a 91 Nissan Sentra that I purchased used with 80K miles on it. I did have to replace parts over the course of its life (muffler, struts, axles and cv joints), but by the time it finally met its end, I had put another 85+K miles on it and I estimated my total expense of the car (not including fuel) at around $6,000 ($2,000 to buy, then $4,000 for parts and service over 7 years), which adds up to costing about $1/every 14 miles driven (not too bad!)
Congratulations on getting your first car, and good luck!
