Was this a good car to buy?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Im not sure what esle is wrong with the car. can anyone tell me what to expect from this car? how long it will last? if it was a smart thing to buy this car?

Is this your first car, or is it a first car for someone else? If so, you've gone with a pretty safe bet. First thing I would check is the undercarriage, frame, and body. Make sure that there isn't any parts that are starting to or have already rusted out. I don't anywhere that it snows, but if this is the case where you are it may have been driven through salted roads. As for the trunk, is it only the interior release that doesn't work, or is it completely shut? There has to be some way to get in there...

As far as the quiet engine sound, it could something as simple as a low idle speed. Take it to a mechanic to get it inspected for everything...if it hasn't been maintained properly, you may be in need of numerous things (cv joints, struts, axles, timing chain/belt). I definitely know that others on the site will be able to give you more information, but I hope this is a good starting place. Good luck and I hope it works out for you!

yes it is my first caryes it does snow alot hereand yes there is under body rustthe slow idle speed can be a badd thing cant it?and i dont really have money to spend to put alot of work into this car

the trunk release in the door duz not open the trunk and neither duz inserting the key.it is not a touring edition so the rear seats dont fold down.ANd the seller sed it has been sititng in the sun for a while..which is why the ac duznt work, and there is no history on the vehicle, becasause the car was given to them. they gave me the VIN number, and said i can go to a local motor vehicle department and they will find the vehicle history for me. I know the car has been sitting

Im thinking to get a 1994 prelude with 130k and all it needs is a controll arm. which is a better deal (prelude same price)

what shud i go with? this g20 or the prelude? which will last me longer? im a 17 year old student in his last year of high school, i dont have much time to get alot of hours for a job, maybe only weekends. so i need a car taht is going to need the least ammount of work done to it, and can keep me going back and forth to school. I dont really know if i can trust infintit's some people have told me "NO DONT EVER GET AN INFINITI!!" and some people have told me that g20's are the best cars you could get.

Ive never heard anyone bad talk a honda, other than ther over priced but this one is the same as the g20 with less miles, all it needs is a control arm.

can someone help me make the right desiscion? the prelude does have quater panel rust.. and it needs a paint job (its yellow...)

so which car do i get?

i havent got the infiniti yet..i told the seller to fix the trun and make sure it starts everytime ( the second time i tried to start it it needed a jump bcuz the engine wudnt turn) and THEN i will buy it.

So if anyone can tell me waht to buy..it would be greatly appreciated

THANk you so much

Ok, that definitely gives a better picture of your situation.

Either way you go, you'll get about the same value in a vehicle for your money. Since this is first car ever, your best bet is to go with the car that is most mechanically sound, regardless of make. I, as well as many others on this forum, can attest to specifics of why we like our Sentra/G20s over other makes and models.

I myself really believe that Nissan does a good job of presenting a reliable, satisfying product. My first car was a 91 Nissan Sentra that I purchased used with 80K miles on it. I did have to replace parts over the course of its life (muffler, struts, axles and cv joints), but by the time it finally met its end, I had put another 85+K miles on it and I estimated my total expense of the car (not including fuel) at around $6,000 ($2,000 to buy, then $4,000 for parts and service over 7 years), which adds up to costing about $1/every 14 miles driven (not too bad!)

Congratulations on getting your first car, and good luck!

Hey thanks alot...i told the lady im only paying a grand for the g20, (she tried to make me pay 3grand) and she took so long to respond to my offer, someone else bot it for the full price of 3grand, so im probably going with the prelude, thanks for all your help tho, if it was still availible i would have definatly chosen the g20 only because it looks so much more sophisticated then prelude (kiddie car)
