Was there any luck with the Dash Lighting?

I know there was a post somewhere on here before on this but I was just curious if anyone actually got the dash lighting changed or if its just not possible in the V. Since I've installed my CD player I'm realizing how much I would like to change the lighting to match it.

It can be done, but it would require desoldering and resoldering due to the type of LEDs used, and how they were used. I would show you the pics that I took, but my monthly bandwith on photobucket was exceeded so it would do no good.

if you goon some computer sites it will teach you how to desolder and resolder because the led's are like the ones used on cellphones they are extreamly small but emit tons of light while almost never burning out. im sure if you put some time and effort you could do it

It is not worth doing it, as they could void your warranty for that type of modification.

I know that I could do it, but I don't want to risk impairing the needles like I did the first time. Plus, even if I could get a spare cluster, I have no way of burning the milage into it.

I thought that manufacturers started putting the mileage in the ECU (or some other module) to help prevent ODO fraud. If you swap the gauges, the existing mileage should be reflected in the new gauges. If you try to swap the ECU to roll back the mileage, you won't be able to start the engine since since ECUs are programed to engine VINs.

I'm not sure if that's true, but that's not the case of the Versa, at least. When I got my cluster replaced, they had to burn the milage into it. In fact, they burned the milage in at about 10 miles less than it was when I brought the car in, so they must have done it on the gauge assembly.
