It depends on how much of a stickler your dealer is.Technically they could void it, at least in parts affected by your modification..

Many guys with mods like that, take them off before going for service with the dealer. Some dealers make a point of recording mods, when they see them, even if they just sopt it at an oilk change, in case at a later point the car comes in with a mod-related problem and the original factory piece is back on.

Different dealers handle this issue very diffrently.Intakes are not as controversial as some other mods (chips, NOS),still, it be best not go go to dealer with the mod on, even for just an oil change.

UNLESS you have pulled back the service advisor to the side and asked him what his particular dealerships policy is on these things.

i didn't think an intake could void your warranty. like gasoline and oil you're allowed to choose replaceable items on your car...intake filter is one of those items. it's a definate gray area. but what kind of intake are we talking about, a k&n drop in or a modified CAI that probably required drilling somewhere?

I think he was referring to a Stillen intake.A hard part replacment not just a filter like a K&N.Incidentally I wouldn't be surprised if some dealers would void warranty's based on K&N given that the oil on them can ruin some sensors.

Talk to dealer service writers off the record and ask them if they would record the presence of your intake, when you take the car in for unrelated service.then go to which ever dealer that say they wont car and/or write it in your records.

I have a '98 QX4 and my warranty is wearing thin only b/c of the year clause- is there options out there for me beyond this. My '98 has just hit the 35K, so I lost the bumper to bumper, and the fifth year is coming up, which will end the powertrain. what can I do?

There are some pretty good aftermarket warranties out there at your infinti dealer.

I dont kjnow if they still do but at least for a while as long as you were still under warranty you could buy them.

Non dealer aftermarket warranties tend to be cheaper but, teh dealer ones have a good rep. Also the warranty company that offers "Warranty Gold" has an excellent rep

I have warrantybynet.com and am real happy with it. Try to avoid buying through ther dealer as they're gonna make their chunk of change off you as well.
