Factory warranty and purchased the extended bumper to bumper very cheap.

Do I need to follow all scheduled Nissan maintenance for them to honor the warranties? Also, do I need to get my oil changed at Nissan, or can I go anywhere?

you can do anything you want with the oem warranty. if they find whatever you did impacted the part(s) in a bad way = they will deny the claim.

we cant tell you anything about the extended warranty as they are all different (they are 3rd party insurance plans). you need to contact them and get clear instructions / details. usually they demand EVERYTHING to be done at a nissan dealer, and in a timely fashion. they usually require ridiculous service intervals (oil changes every 3,000 miles for example) & redundant services: (brake inspections every 15,000 miles). believe me, those extended plans suck on so many levels (unless you buy an american car, then they could be good).

I've had the extended warranty (Nissan branded) on 3 certified used vehicles so far, where it paid for itself. I did no regular maintenance at the dealer for any of them and never had a problem getting repairs done under warranty. In the case of my 04 Sentra, it had the engine-ate-my-butterfly-valve problem and I got a new engine. With my pathfinder I had the radiator/transmission fluid mixing issue and got a new transmission and radiator. Wife's Altima had a cracked downpipe which was repaired, as well. The engine and the transmission were both TSB items, but never recalled. They were pretty clearly factory defect problems. If you engine suddenly seized and you had no record of oil changes, it could be a problem. I've had good luck with Nissan's (not aftermarket) extended warranties.

you can go to any shop or home to do regular services, but make you keep the records, date or receipt. some dealers are picky, it will cover your a** if you blew your engine or cvt

Hi Folks,

I am very excited as I will be the new owner of 2014 Nissan Rogue - Family Tech package, in two days. I was wondering if there is a need to buy an extended warranty on it. I was quoted $1650 plus tax for 5 years comprehensive (gold package, I guess) upto 100,000 km on it. Also, $850 for paint protection for 10 years.

I live it Ontario, Canada, would appreciate if someone has recently bought warranty on Rogue and would like to share their thoughts and quotes they got.

Cheers!

I grabbed mine at the time of purchase. Basically, I declined the warranty, and then they ask you how much would you pay, or which of the 5 warranties would most interest me. I declined again, and got him down to $900 for the additional bumper to bumper package (75000 miles i think), as it included some other things that arent covered in the regular package (some cameras, bluetooth, etc) I just about never buy an extended warranty on anything, but it as worth it for me.

Hey 1019throw,
Thanks for the information. I will try to negotiate with the FM today. I am very much interested in buying the extended warranty as its equipped with lots of electronics, which are covered in the gold membership. I will try offering $1000 and see what happens.

Cheers!

Hi Guys,

I was with the Finance Manager and after an hour of talking, I was convinced that It's worth to buy an extended warranty. I bought platinum membership, covered by Nissan Canada for 5 yrs/ 100,000 kms, bumper to bumper.

There might not be any issues with tanny or engine, but 2014 Rogue is equipped with many gadgets/ electronics that can fail over the span on 5 years. I simply didn't want to take any chances on that and this will give me piece of mind for coming 5 years :)
