So I'm about to finalize my purchase this week. The finance guy says I wont be able to purchase the warranty once I drive the car off the lot, so I have to do it at purchase...which seems to basically mean I have to buy it from him right there and can't get a better deal from another infinit dealer. The car is an 08 w/ 66K miles. I see people say that you have to get the extended warranty within your current warranty, does that mean within the bumper to bumper warranty which is obviously up for me, or within any warranty, which would mean the still existing powertrain warranty would allow me to get the extended?
So what is the deal, do I have some grace period, or do I have to get it the same time?

Thanks.

EDIT: Also, if I modify the car by bypassing the nav security feature, adding a computer, and signal mirrors, would that void the warranty?

I don't think that you "have to get the extended warranty within your current warranty". That's totally up to you.
Dealer of course is going to try to sell you anything he can. But, if price is right, why not get it? or maybe compare it with other dealerships?

Maybe the dealer is not going to sell you the car without purchasing the extended warranty...?

Even if you get the car without the ext. warranty, I think that you will be able to buy the warranty down the road. I don't see why not. Maybe not from manufacturer itself, but third party definitely.

yeah, hes just trying to pressure you into buying right now. You can add the warranty later but you want to try to add it within the time that your manufatures warranty is still valid as it will make things cheaper for you. Price is also based on how many miles your car has, so fewer miles = cheaper warranty. Use the search feature on here and search for "courntey scottsdale" this should bring up a phone # or email for her. She has provided many members on here with infiniti elite warranties for much much less than the dealership.

As for the modifications, yes they will void certain parts of your warranty. If you modify the nav and you have any probs with the nav or any electrical they will try the blame it on that and will most likely not warranty your claim. Same goes with a computer etc. Now if you do the nav. hack and you have an issue with your brakes then you'll be fine. Just be careful and try to keep your modifications reversable so that if there is a major issue you can cover up the mod and still get the claim covered. Good luck and be sure to shop around bc it will save you hundreds maybe thousands.

This should help a bunch. It gives you 2 options with phone #'s. Also tells you what others paid for their warranties and what coverage they got. Good luck

Since the car is already outside of the standard warranty, if you don't buy the warranty from him you will have to have an inspection done, and you will have to pay for the it. His dealership may or may not offer to sell the warranty after the car is off the lot with an additional inspection, but once you have the car, you probably won't be dealing with the same department if you want to get an inspection done there.

BS - i hate it when salesmen try to pressure me into buying and said 'if you don't act now, you will lose this chance forever" go and find Courtney or whoever else out there and get the Extended Warranty. All these guys will sell you the package without asking much. It's all in the number!

I FINALLY GOT IT!!! I'm officially a member.....yeay! 2008 M35X Lakeshore Slate & tan interior. I ended up getting the warranty from where i bought the car, I kind of didnt want to, but I couldnt be bothered to get it inspected elsewhere and extend the whole process. I paid about $170 more than what Courtney was offering, but thanks to her I paid $1000 less than what was originally put in front of me. Anyway, I'm done....I dont feel like getting out the car lol.

So hello nico world.

Not a bad deal for ease of doing it (instead of mailing stuff to Courtney/Daniella, etc.).

Welcome.
