Hey..

Just got my 2001 q45t... 55,000 miles... still have a little warranty remaining (until Dec 2004 or 60,000). My question is if you guys think that an extended warranty would be a good investment and if so, is there a quality aftermarket warranty company, versus going directly with Infiniti. I did the 60,000 miles checkup i.e. changed all the fluids and the plugs. She's very clean and runs great. Planning on putting on some 245/45/18 and cleaning up the exhaust a little bit. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to Nico!!! :jazz:

If you are gonna get an aftermarket warranty, this is the time ,while your cars milage is fairly low, to get a good deal.

If you are going to buy a warranty, don't scimp. Buy the biggest, baddest warranty you can. The cheap ones only cover things like your engine block cracking in half.

To answer your question, we can actually supply a better warranty then what Infiniti can offer you at this point. We can take you up to 100k on your odometer. You would want to enroll before you were at 60k. This would save you money, prevent a lapse in coverage, and give you the best policy we offer. Click on the warrantywarehouse link on the left side of this page. It will take you to our quote screen. You will get a quote in 30 seconds. Compare it to a dealer plan, and it is not even close. Plus you can go anywhere you want to go.

I can vouch for Ted - He helped me with my current warranty, and I have NEVER had a repair turned down (and believe me, I've had some DOOZIE repair tabs at the dealer). :)

Thanks for the replies.. I'm getting the feeling that you think it would be "wise" for me to obtain an extended warranty... I was just wondering how the "incidence of repairs" for my Q was out there in the real world.

Quite wise.

Even if you only use it ONCE, for let's say an A/C compressor, or a transmission, or a rear main seal, you've gotten your money's worth.

An extended warranty is brilliant for those who are immaculate with their cars - I take mine in for a checkup every 6 months whether it needs it or not. Invariably, something will require attention.

Now, before everyone gets all crazy stating the 97-01 Q is bulletproof, and never requires service, let me say that although the Gen II Q is indeed a fine automobile, much of the componentry is shared with the G50 and is JUST as likely to require R&R as they rack up the miles.

p.s. NICO members get a discount as well.

I bough one for my 97' right from the my dealer, not really thinking about who I was buying it from. Long story short, the company went pretty much broke and I've had a few repairs which I had to pay for and they are suppose to pay me back.

So far in 4 years I've not had a major repair, but do not kid yourself, you've got a car that will be ALOT of money to repair so the warranty is totally worth it You bought a pretty new car, make it feel like a brand new car by making repairs someone elses problems until 100k...after 100k you expect to put money into the car. Go with the sure bet of one warranty price and than they fix anything that goes wrong.

My wife's dad had bought a used pick-em-up truck that was just short of his 3/36 warranty, so he bought a $2000 or so extended warranty.

During his X-mas trip a few months later, the trans craps out. The warranty paid for the transmission, and a rental caddy for the rest of his vacation. One big repair and you're making money.

I bought an Infiniti warranty for 84 months or 100K on my 94 J30T and never had to use it. I bought the same warranty on my 99I30T and have used it for one item.......the digital clock. I am still under warranty for 40k more miles or until Jan 06. So far due to the reliabilty of these cars I am down about $2500. Will let you know if anything happens.

I had one issue with replacing coils while the car was under the original factory warranty but that is all in 66K miles.

Scott - Might be a good time to take her in to the dealer and have the oil changed and a full inspection.

If all else fails, mention that it's "down on power". That gets you a lot further in my experience. :)
