"In the rare circumstance that a clog were to develop in this evaporative emission vapor vent tube, your vehicle has software that may not be able to accurately pinpoint the issue. All other warranty terms, limitations, and conditions remain unchanged. Please note that a hard-to-fill condition is a symptom that may indicated a clog in this evaporative emission vapor vent tube. If you experience this symptom, your infiniti technician will be able to accurately diagnose the issue and make any necessary repairs".

I just got the letter in the mail myself telling me my 2011 falls under the extension.

Just an FYI for all of our Y51 members...we'll all likely be getting this.

I had this condition on my old 07 M35x which the dealer fixed under warranty. Guess they've finally had enough people have it happen across all models that they've issued a legitimate warranty extension (basically a recall as few people will have their car for 15 years).

I wouldn't say it was crazy common but a few people had it. I don't remember if I've ever had an issue filling my Y51. I had a HARD time filling my Y50 after a year of owning it and after the fix it was great.

Got this for my current and previous Infiniti, which actually had the problem but I didn't know it was common. Too bad they didn't put this out years ago!

austin713 keep us posted, let's hope the dealership doesn't give you a hard time.

Luckily I have not encountered this issue with my M. My brother's Accord used to this back in the day, can you imagine trying to pump your gas when temps are below freezing and you have to stand outside constantly handling the gas pump to fill up your gas tank? :wtf2:

The extended warranty is kind of bogus because the tube itself isn't really defective. If it's stopped up, usually it's because folks "top off" their cars by bumping the gas nozzle, flooding the vent tube and gas ends up getting into the vent purge valve and the charcoal canister. That won't be covered under the warranty if the dealer diagnoses it that way. There should be a EVAP fault code though if that happens.

Interesting. I used to do that on my old 4th Gen Maxima's but on both my M's I just stop at the first click (real click) when it's full at 16-17 gallons.

Hey folks,

I just got CEL today and used my ODBII scanner to pull a P0456 code for "EVAP Control System Very Small Leak Detected" from the ECU.

Wondering if this has anything to do with the warranty extension, or did I just forget to close my gas cap tight enough during my last fill up? I just cleared the code and see if that goes away for good. If not, I'll take it into the dealer and keep everyone posted.

Thanks,
Tom

It might be but good move on clearing the code and reseating the gas cap. That could certainly trigger it.
