Is the Infinity Warranty document for the M45 published or could someone publish it?As to Engine warranty and the oil service documentation supposedly required by dealerships, I wonder. The wording on the Infiniti Web is 'recommend' not "require"oil change every 3750 miles. These two words are parsed everyday in court. If Infiniti's denial regarding many warranty issues are real then you don't need to go to court, just a letter as to language from a lawyer should suffice. I'm sure Infiniti will jerk anyone around if you let them. It would have to say that "you must provide proof of oil service" in the document for it be justification to break a contract. If you read the thread on oil consumption in the G35 coupe it happens with perfect oil service. so its not a matter of neglect or mistreatment. Many of these cars tank within 7000 miles.

3750 is recommended to increase durability after the warranty expires.

7500 and 180 days is the amount required by the warranty, however you are required to ALWAYS maintain oil level, even if it is an excessive oil user until Nissan agrees to replace the engine.

So many owners ignore this simple rule " to maintain lubrication" that everyone is familiar with the ploys to be creative in forging oil change documents.

This is what I found on Infiniti's web site, it is for a 2006 M but I'm pretty sure that all recent years are the same.

MAINTENANCE AND RECORDSAs a condition of this warranty, you are responsible for properly using, maintaining and caring for your vehicle as outlined in your Owner’s Manual, and of maintaining copies of all maintenance records & receipts for review by Nissan. Failure to do so is likely to result in the denial of warranty.

Funny thing is in the Owners Manual all I can find is this:

Scheduled maintenance:For your convenience, both required and optional scheduled maintenance items are described and listed in your INFINITI Service and Maintenance Guide. You must refer to that guide to ensure that necessary maintenance is performed on your INFINITI at regular intervals.

Go to the Service and Maintenance Guide and all it says is:

Scheduled maintenance:

Depending on your driving habits and local conditions, you should follow one of the three maintenance schedules listed below.Use these guidelines to determine which maintenance schedule to use:

I really did not see anywhere that you MUST do something. I'm not too sure how "SHOULD" and "MUST" would stand up in court.

FWIW, did a word search in the Service and Maintenance Guide, only found the word MUST one time:

In some states, the law says you must be advised if non-genuine partsare used to repair your vehicle

Again all you must do is change the oil and filter and maintain liquid levels so simple.

Why the manual has the liquid capacties so well spelled out.

Have a good time litigating it is always a fun learning experience.

You might get lucky?

Q45tech, litigation generally follows the absence of "good faith' on the part of one party in a Contract. I can't imagine your comment is in defense of the innumerable Infiniti dealers that have not acted in good faith. I will add that in the Warranty Document being discussed even Nissan admits,

"but Nissan cannot deny warranty solely for

lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure

the performance of all scheduled maintenance."

No where does it say you MUST change the oil, all it says is you SHOULD following one of the schedules. Not that I would not change my oil, or follow one of the schedules. I believe the start of this thread had to do with is it a MUST or SHOULD.

Let the jury/judge/arbitrator decide whether or not you have been diligent or negligent in maintaining your vehicle.
