Took the car in for the trunk shock problem and the advisor told me that there was a bulletin for it. Isn't that something that they fix regardless if you are under warranty or not since there is a TSB for it? They want to charge me my deductible of $50 for the service. Anyone know the procedure here?

Unless there is a recall of the vehicle I believe all TSB's are repaired under the vehicle warranty. The fact that there is a TSB for a particular problem with a model year doesn't necessarily mean that every vehicle is going to experience that problem. If a vehicle goes 4 years or 60,000 miles and hasn't experienced a failure yet, then it will be assumed that any problems are a result of normal wear and tear and you'll pay for it out of pocket or it will be paid for out of an extended warranty minus any applicable deduction.

I would think the answer to this is no. Are you on your extended warranty now?

mine was just repaired for the 2nd time -- under the extended ELITE warranty (with 0 deductible) and the trunk still won't pop - and I don't even have a spoiler. NAPA sells replacement struts that will drop in and actually raise the trunk lid all the way open. My service manager has agreed to replace my trunk struts AGAIN, for free - if I just buy the NAPA struts and bring them in. The factory part sucks, basically.

There is a POST here on the trunk struts - search for it and the part numbers are there in the post. It will run you $60 for the struts.

I have a question about TSB's and warranty. I am purchasing an 06 m35x tomorrow and was wondering if I should report all of the items in the TSB as problems with my car so that Infiniti will fix them under warranty (even if they dont occur). My thinking is that they 'might' occur in the future and fixing them now under warranty may be prudent.

Has anyone tried to do this? Also, how can I view all of the recalls and TSB's on this car? Will infiniti fix all TSB's under warranty?

Thanks

Unless the Tech experiences the defect while working on the car they will not automatically perform the TSB service. A TSB just means that a common problem was found in a certain percentage of vehicles. It does not mean that every part is defective in all vehicles or that all Vehicles will experience the failure. A "Recall" is different than a TSB. Recalls require all cars within a certain model or certain VIN range be serviced. There are currently no recalls on Infiniti vehicles.

A TSB [Technical Service Bulletin] is just an addenum to FSM. Things that were found and proceedures discovered after FSM was printed.Really has nothing to do with warranty other than more detailed proceedures on how to fix things found at anytime even 10 years from now.

Who pays is a function of warranty document.
