I got a car warranty quote for 3 yr 36K mile for $2100. This extended warranty covers my car until it is 100K. The warranty covers power trans, injectors, brake system, a/c, suspension, rental car, tow. There is a $100 deductable. Is this a good quote?

The letter I received in the mail stated "if your vehicle has less than 120000 miles, you may qualify ..."

I say self insure by putting that $ in a savings account for possible repairs.your q year model is very reliable, and i would gamble you would come out ahead by doing this, especially with the miles taken into the equasion.

That's way too high.... $1000 would be more reasonable. But extended warranties are a pain since you never know what you're paying for until you submit a claim.

The only likely failure items are the A/C and the transmission, but ONLY IF you abuse them.

Lots of misinformation going on in this thread...

I have 2 figures for you guys to ponder: $1500 and $6600. :)

AZ... I have a question for you.. Been egging me for a LONG time..

I know what youve had $6600 worth of stuff done on your Q, but how much of it was REALLY necessary... Sounds like youd be nearly screwed if you didnt have it.....

misinformation? different model car, shown to be more reliable than g50 series,a warranty company prices the contract to come out ahead most of the time-the odds are way in favor of self insuring in this case, especially considering the warranty ends at a low 99,999.9 total miles.

99% of repairs are unnecessary, if the idea is to get from point A to point B.

Think about it - Very few mechanical failures render the car inoperable.

But do you REALLY want to drive a car that has been maintained like a 1955 Chevy in Castro's Cuba?

I have no doubt that my car could be subjected to the harshest and most rigorous scrutiny by the crew at T3 without flinching. And that's well worth $1500.

One transmission failure > $1500A/C goes bad > $1500Rear diff > $1500Suck a valve > $1500

It's called insurance. The warranty companies count on you being one of the doofuses who buys the warranty and then don't take the car in for regular inspections and maintenance. Don't be that guy.
