warped head question
warped head question
ok guys I got the head gasket out, and I was wondering if theres any way to tell if the head is warped from looking at it or with a strait edge or anything like that? or am I gonna have to take it somewhere to get looked at and if I do can anyone tell me a cheap place around columbus, ohio that I could do it at? thanks guys

its difficult to find out yourself, unless you have like 50,000$ worth of machening equipment.. more than likely, if you have had a blown gasket for like.. a year or something, it will have definatly warped.. but if your gasket just went bad, your head will be fine. nothing SIGNIFICANTLY bad enough where any fluids would leak.
Then definately take it to a machine shop. Even if your gasket just went bad, i would NOT take a chance on having a warped head. Better yet, pick up some ARP studs for your KA24E when you are putting it back together. MUCH better than reusing old head bolts, and still way better than new head bolts!

m1dt0wn3you need to get a feeler gauge and a strait edge and blueprint the head yourself, its not very difficult, any car manual will have the instruction of how to do it.
intake manifold P&P run very cheap, at one point I was quoted for 200 +/- 40 bucks on a KA24DE manigumby wrote:how much you think to have a machine shop check port and polish a ka24e intake manilfold?
