Has anyone resolved the problem of a warped gas flap? Mine is not flush with the body when closed. It sticks up at the bottom when you face the rear of the car. Dealer's body shop guy suggested a heat gun or hair dryer be used on the inside of the flap along the center line. Haven't tried it yet. Want to know if anyone else has experienced this problem with their 350Z and what was done to resolve it.

It's really common. Not worth the time to fix it because it will just happen again. I just left mine go.

I had the exact same problem with the lid/door. I noticed it the second week I had the car. I brought it to my dealers attention and they suggested having the tech look at it and if he couldn't adjust it that they would order a new one and replace it. But with that comes the chance of the replacement color not matching the rest of the fender exactly. Finally after the so called "pros" at the dealer could not figure it out, I researched it and found that many others had had the same problem. Not for sure if this is the reason for everyone else but the problem with mine was the plastic cable that is attached to the gas cap. After fueling, when the cap was put back on the cable had been twisted up and it caused it to stick out just enough for the lid/door to catch it at the bottom and cause it to buldge out. Then sittting out in the sun and heat the plastic had heated up and caused it to form itself as it was. I corrected the gas cap and cable like it should have been and then close the door and immediately could see a difference. After a few hours in the sun and heat it warmed the door up enough for it to form back like it should be. After all the pros and techs and head scratching, turns out it was something as simple as that little plastic cable causing the whole ordeal. Like I said, I don't know if this is the case with all of them, but it was on mine. Hope this helps some of uns out.

yeah same here, unless your that much of a drag coefficient junkie it really doesn't matter. I didn't really start to notice until i was leaning on that part of the quarter panel and i felt the lid sort of stick out.

I read your post & took a look at the cord you made reference to, made sure the end of the cord was wrapped under the white plastic rivet flat & it has made a difference in how the lid fits now. I'm letting the car sit in the sun as I write this in the hopes it will remain flat. Thanks for your post. Take care.

Boy you started a good one here. I think it should be called a money flap because that is where it is going anyway.
