Hello, I'm a 240sx-er! But I'm trying to fix a problem with my gf's 99 v6 auto. Maxima. I know nothing about this car. Perhaps someone could help me...

The brake and battery lights in the dash turn on and off periodically. They randomly pop up at the same time and usually stay on for the duration of the drive. They flicker from bright to dim, but don't completely dim and if I pull the E-brake it it turns bright.

Is this common? It feels like a loose connection, and if so wheres the best bet to start looking? Restarting the computer did nothing.

I tested the alternator... "Alternator Voltage- Bad"

if the alternator tested out bad, then your best bet is to check the alternator connection, and replace the alternator. that should solve your problem, and even if it doesn't, it is still something that needs to be done.

ThanksI'm going to see if something else is wrong before I spend money on an alternator. When using a volt meter the alternator seems to be performing fine. The battery tester might be reading "Alternator Voltage - Bad" for reasons other than the alternator needing to be replaced. It's just saying the Voltage is bad, and not necessarily the alternator. If I drain the battery to 7v It will charge back to 14v or 15v when the motor is running.

Any other ideas?

your instrument panel connections, and/or e-brake sensor.

get a Haynes Manual, it makes things a lot easier!
