There are very strict rules on prescriptions for narcotics like Percocet/Oxycodone, Amphetamine salts, and even things like Ritalin, Concerta, and Adderall. Prescriptions for such medications cannot have refills, and the prescription can only be filled once (meaning if the prescription is written for 90 tablets, but you only want 30, then 30 will be all you can get from that prescription, and you will have to contact your doctor for another script after that). There are also strict inventory checks that must be done for all narcotics, with a complete record of which narcotics have been dispensed to which patient, with an exact quantity. Lots of work for pharmacies to dispense those medications . . .
