Was haz my small stash....always looking and taking a pulse to see where we are with this situation.
and, agreed, people are the problem.....
I work in IT and when we have a problem/issue/failure we perform a root cause analysis to find out the cause so that we can fix it....obviously this was not done in this case. sorry...not political, just analytical.

Since Late Dec everyone buys just about everything they see. Especially 22LR and 9mm. Those seem to be the most popular.

223/556 also gets gone fast.

Prices have went up dramatically since then as well.

Gander Mountain had Bushmaster Carbon 15's online in January 799 for about an hour....the other week for a couple days at 849. Now, it's been several days that have been IN STOCK....if you know how to get to the page....
They had M&P AR15 22's for 499 for numerous days recently.
Sig was instock for a day.
Guns have come down.....ammo scarce.....online you have to be lightning fast.

Yeah, ARs are finally in stock in most places, just price went up some.

I don't have an Academy close by. Gander has too high of price for ammo, they usually have plenty of 40 for me, but too high. Never have 223/556, 22LR, or 9mm it seems.

My local gun shop has been the best for ammo. And then getting lucky to find 223 occasionally at Walmart (they haven't went up on their prices at all it seems, just the matter of finding something in stock there).

d!ck has angered a lot by removing all the semi-auto rifles from their shelves. Have one of those in town, haven't checked lately. Need to call them to see about 22LR, need to stock up on that.

Picked up a few boxes of PMC Xtac 5.56 for 9.99 box this weekend from local places. I usually hold out for Fed 223 100rd boxes at Walmart, $35 is hard to beat (can't find it any where else cheaper).

Back in January, you had to GOOGLE 'Gander Mountain AR 15' to get the Bushmaster's to come up....and you could order them for about 1 hour....
But, you could not go to the home page and search them and find them even by product codes.
It looks like you can go to their home page now, but only shows some.

I just want to say THANKS to SVTCOBRA, I had been looking for my first rifle since about December 2012... then the s*** hit the fan with the school shooting and everything was sold out, then my local Academy sports "stopped selling ARs". I put this in quotes because I come to find out after seeing SVTCOBRA's post that they do sell ARs, but they do not display them "in order to be politically correct and sensitive to the past events" (exact quote from the sales rep)

The particular rifle i wanted, a sig 556R, was widely avaliable at Academy Sports before November 2012 at a decent price. On tuesday, i walked into Academy Sports and discretely asked if they still sell AR type rifles, the sales guy literally whispered "yes", went behind and under the counter, then showed me what AR's they had. To my surprise, they had the sig 556R i had been looking for for months at the same price it was in November. Then to futher make my day they had 7.63x39 ammo for $6 for 20 round box on tuesday also.

The one in Concord NC is within walking distance of the Bass Pro Shop!!
And right off of 85 if you ever get up this way. There is also a Walmart right around the corner from them, so if you are on an ammo run....
The other is in Kannapolis NC. not far from 85

Her daddy grew up redneck - playing in the woods/swamp/creek in camo....cruising HP Road's night attractions in a hopped up 69 Mach 1.....her roots eventually should beat down that silly Hippie-ness.
(BTW, there were actually 2 swamps behind my house!! Complete with a cypress groves....only one in the piedmont from what I remember.)
also, her grandfather was a big game hunter...died inside the artic circle on his last hunting trip. Shot a muskox, picked up his brass, sat down in the dogsled and died.....will have to post a pic of the trophy room they had!! 3 or 4 full mount grizzly's to just give you an idea.....Rock wall at one end with full mounts (2 mountain goats, 2 mountain lions, black bear, cinamom brown bear).....yep, it's in her blood...it will come out.

im just learning how much the gun culture is in my blood after my grandfather died... im now the proud owner of two revolvers that are both over 100 years old. one revolver was my great great grandmother's personal carry gun. both guns have been owned by my family all 100+ years.

one is a Colt new line .22 cal revolver
other is a Smith & Wesson .32 cal DA model #4 revolver

I grew up 'playing' with my dad's Colt 32-20 Police Positive revolver....when they would leave, I would empty it and 'play' with it. Dad always told me to treat a gun with respect and as if it were loaded. I would replace the bullets after emptying it and playing with it and put it up.
Recently, I found out that he also has a Colt 22LR revolver that he bought in 1955.....his brother has had it forever. They recently traded.
My brother has the 22LR which is fine, but I really would like to have the other. Dad also recently told me that my great grandfather wore it when he was a deputy sheriff which I think makes it even cooler. So, I'll see if I can get it back. Uncle has two girls. It should stay in the Johnson family.

I ran around my neighborhood in the late 70's with a bb gun (and scope) all summer long. NEVER had issues anywhere. I also had a .22 rifle and would go out shooting with my dad, I didn't walk around with that at all. My dad had a .38 as well but I never messed with it as it was always loaded.

I just got a nice little derringer from my mom that has been in my family for umpteen years. There were actually 3 funny little bullets with it. I have had a gun collector look at it and he told me it is worth about $750. I'm thinking about finding someone that will trade it for a nice little pistol that I can really use.

We used to terrorize the water bugs at the creek with our BB guns. Fun to shoot!
Had a Daisy El Dorado BB gun.....then, somebody snuck in our basement and stole it along with some other rifles....
Dad replaced them with new ones, but I don't recall him replacing my BB gun....Hey, think I'll call him and tell him he owes me one!!!!
