Sorry but you are not making any sense. You said the light came on and a Nissan mechanic said it would cost $3000......yet the car has not been diagnosed.
The light is there for a reason. It is to tell you a fault has been detected. You need to get the computer scanned and find out what the fault codes are. You can't get the car diagnosed over the internet as there are hundreds of codes that can cause the lights to come on. Most autoparts can scan a check engine light, but few have the tool to scan ABS, SRS, etc.
Most likely you need to get it in the shop and get it diagnosed and go from there. Don't expect a free diagnosis either. Mechanics are paid by the job. They are not on the clock. Most shops will charge you to diagnose the car but credit the charge towards your repair.
