Warning Lights Galore

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hey all, I've not posted for a while, been a bit busy and my EX has been running amazingly. Now have 49,500 miles on it, and its purring as well as when I bought it.

Until last night. I was driving home from work, and shortly after getting on the Hwy the LDP, Skid, Brake and Traction Control lights all came on the dashboard. A minute later the Brake light went off, but the other three remained on. I pulled off a couple of exits down, turned the engine off, waited a minute and restarted, and they didn't come back on. The Brake light has been flashing on and off intermittently for the past week, so I was going to take it in to the dealers next week, but I'm gonna take it in this afternoon instead to get it looked at.

Anyone had anything similar, or any ideas what that could be?

Yup, sorry I didn't post sooner.

The warning lights were apparently all an indicator that the brake fluid was low. Apparently so low that the computer switches off the other systems that use the brakes (hence the warning lights) in order to conserve what brake fluid it does have for, well, for when you stamp your foot down on the left hand pedal! I'm pretty sure that was what they said, or at least something very similar along those lines. Upshot of it was they added brake fluid and now it seems fine.

Why was your brake fluid reservoir low? That's the issue I'd be concerned about.

As the brake pads wear out the fluid can go to a point (displacing the volume in the cylinders) where it could trigger the sensor. Although this is a sign the pads are near their end or you have a leak!!

Well I just verified my brake fluid level and no problem there. For the break pads they are in excellent condition, still 40 % left. I think I will have to go to the dealership.
