Hi,Recently I have again experienced these symptoms on my 1997 Y33 with 198k miles. Don' t think this is related to coils which I have replaced (new OEM) last year and the coil problem went away.

Car is jerky when letting go/stepping on gas pedal (at around 25mph).The service engine light comes on in addition to TCS warning light. The car revs at 800 rpm insteam of 650rpm when when stopped (fully warmed up). I did do a transmission fluid replaceent few months ago (not a flush). However, I have experienced these symptoms before (occasionally).

When I restart the car this happens (not 100%).1. overdrive starts blinking2. overdrive goes away3. TCS light comes on.4. service engine light remained on.

I am a home mechanic and do not have consult to read the code.Any recommnendation before I bring the car in the dealer?

Thanks007

Sound pretty similar to what I experience 8 years ago when my 97Q was around 65K.

I was on the freeway on my way to work and the cars was pulling back and forth while I was cruising about 70 mph. I noticed the loss of power then ECL popped up.

I drove to the nearest Infinti dealer near by my work at that time. After I pulled up to the service booth and turn off the motor I couldn't re-start the car back again. That's the time TCS light triggered too.

Dealer later called me that my air flow meter is dead and my TCS relay followed together. Dealer got me that day. $480.00 for the AFM, $125.00 for the relay plus $380.00 to install and program the AFM which was bull Sh*t that I found out later.

Amazing thing I found out was that Q45 has a computer on board that temporary takes control of the malfunction part until you get to the nearest service station. That's why I was able to drive another 20 miles to the dealer with malfunction air flow meter.

As far as OD flashing. If you refer to the owners manual your transmission is in the safe mode.

Then you definitely need a a good OBD II code reader like the one form Harbor Fright referenced in another post.

Have you ever replaced your alternator?

Nope! Haven't changed the alternator. I did replace the battery couple months ago after Kragen told me my battery is bad 2 years ago.

The MAF was replace 5 years ago.coils replaced last year.KS (both) and cable replaced 3 years ago.

Check the Kragen battery first.

Then check your VIN against the alternator recall TSB.

If you work on your own cars then buy a OBD-II scanner-very good investment long term. Short term, take it to Autozone or Advance if you have them and have them read the codes.
