I was just driving around today and a warning light came on. Im not sure exactly what light it is but its the one next to the gas light on the JDM cluster. It lit up red for about 5 seconds then later it came on again for about 5 seconds. I think it may be a tranny issue b/c ive been hearing some odd noises from that area and i also have a slight tranny fluid leak. The symbol looks like this:

l l l _---_ --__--Thanks in advance.

I also have the JDM cluster and the same thing happened to me and it ended up being the brake master cylinder. Check to make sure that it has plenty of brake fluid and if it does try bleeding your brakes. Hope this helps.

I think you may be referring to the brake light (!) - this symbol. I checked all of the fluid and everything is fine. I seriously think its my tranny tho.

alright i just found out that it might have something to do with catyltic converter or something like that. i forgot to mention that i just installed a new 02 sensor also.

Its a catalytic converter light that goes off when the cat is overheating or faulting. Nothing usually too important. I think it gets is signal off the O2 sensor mounted in the cat or on the O2 housing.

looking at the back of the cluster (yes I just ahppen to have a JDM cluster sitting in my room) that light is labeled as EXH on the back. exhaust. Might want to invest in getting a new O2 sensor if the light is going off.

probably a wiring issue. make sure you have a good connection on the O2 wire.

I don't think that the Silvias came with an extra O2 sensor after the cat, so I don't think it would throw a light for that.

I am pretty sure ALL S13's (180SX and Silvia) as well as the rest of the Silvia run had this light and extra sensor in the cat. If I remember correctly its part of the emissions requirements of Japanese cars.

I wouldnt worry about the light too much mainly because none of us ever use this cat sensor anyway.

if you want to stop it from coming on, remove the light. Pull the cluster out and you'll notice a bunch of brown rectangles on the bottom of the back. Find the one labelled "EXH". Just simply twist and it will come out.

i just rewired the harness for my jdm digi gauges so that my seatbelt light didnt come on when the break was on and vice versa, that light is the same wire that the check engine light was on the usdm gauges. So i assume they are similar meanings.

I know this is a really old thread, but in hunting down the cause of the cat hot light in my jdm cluster this is one of the first places I ended up. So just in case someone runs into this issue and ends up here too this light turned out to be my overdrive off indicator light on my automatic 95 240sx.
