Post

I've been poking around the forums for a long time (at least a year or two) Never posted.

Since I have only now started to fix my car (Pulsar NX SE, EXA in japan/australia) I've become reattached to my old ca18de. (sorry my 13b n/a with 200whp has been distracting me for a while :P)

Anyway, I've had my pulsar for about 2-3 years now. Last year, as I was sourcing a manual transmission (i was tried of driving automatic) I heard a little bit of engine knock. Meh, no big deal. I'l just do an oil change I though, must be sticky lifters.

Anyway, I got my parts car

And away I went.

The car ran when I bought it but the clutch didn't' want to disengage....

oh noes!

Before We go further, I must note that the ca18de in my pulsar, suffered from a thrown bearing. I drove it for another 3-4months on it before the engine starting making metal on metal noises and almost seized on me up a hill (i knew i had another running engine so i didn't care, my friend wanted me to throw a rod through the block but i didn't want to, i still need parts off this thing ;P). I then drove her home before swapping engines and transmission. (originally just wanted 5 speed swap) Anyway, before then she ran like a champ. I gave alot of integra's a run for their money (ca18de > b18)

Oh well, new clutch time.

Some more goodies(guess this thing has some new parts :P, had new rad, new windshield, new cv shafts, new exhaust.. all for me! and for 200$ :O, coil packs worth more then that!)

Mmmmm, 2 ca18de

(that auto transmission was HUGE, almost didn't want to be pulled out, i though I would have to drop the engine out but I was too lazy to detach the lower cross member. I wiggled he out )

Oh noes! ca18de going back in for now...

Nice and tucked in

I'm saving these bad boys for the ca18det comming in this summer

Anyway, thats all I have so far. The car wouldn't start after the engine was dropped. I didn't know much about electronics at the time adn my dad just wanted the car out of his driveway (i didn't live there anymore, and the car had been there a year) So I towed it to my place.

Then a few weeks later the neighbors complained about the car with all the body moldings stripped off and no interior (having the car redone :P) So the bylaw police came and told me to move it off the street (was in cul de sac)

I had to ge tit started. Anyway, I had been taking some classes at college and I knew about electronics now so I followed the ignition wire to my inhibitor.

Well, turns out that the plug to the starter is backwards... *facepalm* Fixed that. Also, the inhibitor isn't grounded right (auto is now 5 speed so i guess the electronics arn't working properly in that little area)

Anyway, I just sent a 12v source o the starter and poof, car started first time :D

Put her in gear! and there she went (guess i put the clutch in right :P) (btw, auto transmission weights like 100+lbs, 5 peed 75lbs or less :P)

Anyway, i cleaned her up and this is what she looked like before i stripped her of all body moldings and prepped her for paint.

She has been under a car cover now since before xmas. I miss her and the ca18de goodness. But i have been preoccupied with my new toy since then.

AS for FWD vs RWD.

RWD lets you do more crazy stuff, but as far as ripping around town crazy like, I prefer FWD as I don't have to worry about my back end coming out (which I do on purpose now, but the first time I crapped my pants :P)

Cheers

-Serge

I call bs on an 200whp N/A S4 13B w/o a dyno chart with ANYTHING less than Holley carbs and a full bridge port. Seriously. I had an S5 with light street port, ported intake manifolds and RB race header and there was no way it was near 200whp. MAYBE 175whp on a cold day.

Nice Pulsar tho. It was funny, I had a friend in high school that had one and I thought it was lame and slow. How little I knew then.

not exactly a wrong assumption. most pulsars (XE) came out with the e16 and ga16. only the SE's came out with ca16de/ca18de. so the majority of em were pretty slow!!!

but now we know better. so if we do have the car, we can det it!!
