So after i installed my Warn hubs on my r50, i kept wondering about how tight i tightened the new studs i installed. Its probably me being paranoid, but when i was installing the new studs, i didnt know the torque settings so i put a little loctite blue and tightened it really hard, so when i put on the warn hubs, the nuts screwed in with just enough space, making it flush with the stud end. I am not sure what unforseen effects overtightening them may cause, but they seem to be okay. I read other posts afterwards that the torque setting was 25 ft-lb max. should i remove the studs and reinstall them? the studs stuck out about the same amount as the old studs did even though they were supposed to be longer.

Pre-load and the smaller bolts are up to 51 ft lb, but the stud with or without warn hub interface should be the same as the torque setting you bolt up your wheels, as per book about 75-85 lb ft, I usually torque them to 100 ft lbs. They need to be even to keep wheel spider constant and to keep mounting plate even. Torque them and leave the loctite

warn instructions call 27-31 lbs torque. You dont need a lot of torque because those bolts don't see pulling or pushing forces - they only see "shear" force (when in 4wd). Do NOT torque them with the same force as your lug nuts!!!!! unless you want to see them shear right off the first time you go wheeling (probably unlikely, but thats a worst case scenario).

uh oh, i kinda torqued them hard, but i drove a little bit with it locked then quite a bit with it unlocked and i jsut tightened the nuts ater wards a bit more. For now there it seems fine. It would shear off if i overtorqued them then went 4lo? i would take them out and torque them again if i have to. 20-35 ftlb seemed a bit too little when i did it by hand cause i didnt want the studs coming out when i drove.

nah man if its on, its on... i wouldnt worry about it....

if you're anything like me, you're going to end up causing more problems trying to fix something that really isn't even a problem...

how tight did you make it? like hand tight with a small wrench?
