I am in the Military and just finished paying off my car and have a 25k dollar bonus that I just finished recieving, and currently an e3 and can easily make that money so yeah I would say that I am prepared to spend that much money on the car.. I have seen a lot of skylines on post and want something to compete with my buddy's car thats pushing about 750whp.. I am just trying to get advice on what to do, I have been looking up parts for the vq, and have looked at gtmotorsports at their products and wonder which would be the best to get to get the most out of my car, I'm not looking to be critized because of my age.
did you just say easily make 80k as an e3? hahaha

look man we are all for more people in the RB family, but you need to take a hit from the reality bong, instead of the ricer one.

800 hp = racecar, show, or trailer queen.

just the engine build is only 1/4 the equation. you need suspension, drivetrain and safety to go along with it.

building a car to beat your friends (hence why you went with 50 more hp than him lol) is STUPID. there is ALWAYS someone faster than you and im willing to bet there are cars with less power who will be a LOT faster.

you need to take a step back, do a ton of reading then decide. these pipe dream threads do nothing because the amount of work, parts and information to even BEGIN to build an engine to those kinds of power levels cant be described with a basic "noob" like question you asked.

I'm thinking it's the army that's paying people just to enlist right now. I could make $25k go a long way on an RB powered car. This cat being 18 and just joined the army, I actaully think dumping money into his car is probably going to give the best return after 5 years than anything else he's likely to do with his money. I remember (barely) my first 5 years in the air force. With $25K, I would have put a lot more stripers through college than I already did. At least I invested in Budweiser stock. Everytime I drank, it was like paying myself

Just curious what makes you think you can handle a 800HP car.

I have a 250HP RB20. Its plenty of fun due to power to weight ratio. I know how addicting and fun boost is. I want more. LOTS more.

I also know if I had the VQ35 I want and it was my first high HP car, I would destroy it at the track or kill my self or both. Or even either of those scenarios on the street.

Say you had 600WHP. You would boost the H#!! out of your car enjoying that. Do you think you could restrain your self to use only 1st or 2nd gear on the streets? Because with that much HP 3/4/5/6th are pretty easy to top out, and those speeds on the streets WITH OUT THE SKILLS TO CONTROL IT are VERY dangerous. Is killing/injuring yourself or some one else worth that risk? Look up Nick Hogan. He seriously injured a passenger in his car, and now hes almost a vegetable. That's why my VQ35 is on the floor and I'm collecting parts to twin turbo it, and put it in my clean s13 shell that will mainly be a track car. I'll probably build the whole thing to be capable of 400-600HP or so. Just a target range, we'll see what it ends up being.

Untill then I'm going to mod my RB20 into the 350WHP range, in the mean time going to events, learning skills and enjoying my car. If I was in your position a nice turbonetics or APS turbo kit would make plenty of reliable power and still be upgradable.

Till then boost safe nicoers.
