I'm really getting tired of the loudness of my Z and every time I see a PIG I have to completely let off the gas and coast by them. So I'm thinking that the OEM G35 exhaust sounds damn good on them how would they sound on a Z32 with bolt ons parts, test pipes and resonators? I'm sure I will lose a little horsepower than my COBB exhaust not worried, and NO I don't want HKS................QUITER is what I want. One more question will the OEM G35 muffler fit on my 2+2 Z32?

Just trying to get the info from some guys who might no.Oh and if anyone has their old OEM G35 exhaust lying around hit me up.

The sound of the G35 is in the resignator.... The muffler will only make it quieter!

And the G35 coupe muffler is one muffler with two outlets!

I think the z32 is two separate mufflers

Trust me, you don't want to try and fit a G exhaust... well... at least not from a sedan... It has a seven foot resonator that must weigh around 40lbs... that's why the G sedan has little sport appeal stock. I find the Infiniti SUVs sound sportier than first/second gen sedans.

Look at different resonators that will subtly reduce the sound your despise. I like it loud, but only really on WOT... the constant hum at 3K it gets annoying on road trips.

i think the sound is from the VQ35...not the resonator, because i removed my resonator on my sedan, and the sound is even better,,,,,my stock VQ sedan muffler is from calsonic..,,two of those on his fairlady may sound nice.

Are you talking about the coupe exhaust or the sedan exhaust?

I think the exhaust from the coupe is going to be longer than the exhaust for the Z32. its longer than the 350Z by about a foot.

I bet the exhaust will still be loud.

sedan exhaust is made by calsonic. two of those on the back of his car might sound nice...configured just like his stock ones would be..in fact his original oem mufflers where probably similar to the g sedan muffler.

Do the 300ZX guys know you're looking into this?

Your test pipes are what's causing the ugly sound.

Cats, resonators, and the muffler work together to create an appealing exhaust note. If you kill the cats, now things have changed.

Since you're in CA and the "Man" will kill you if they find you without CARB legal exhaust, just go the right way and stop trying to fanagle some off the wall frankenstein exhaust.

I highly doubt your VG30 is going to sound the same as the VQ35.

i agree... i dont think its worth the trouble... just to oneday have the cops take a mirror or what ever and see you dont have cats and get a big ticket and/or have your car impounded... why not just buy some high flow CARB legal cats to get rid of the loud sound?

There are smog free counties in the great state of Cali., and I live in one so no smog needed.

And yes I know that the removal of the cats is the reason for the loud Z, and yes I know the VG30 is different than the VG35, but all that I said was I'm trying to get some advice.

My exhaust is no Frankenstein it is done right by professionals not every day amateurs.....PROMISE

I am asking for advice from the Z32 guys as well and I get a lot of just put HKS on it. But I just want it a little quieter.

I was just wondering if any of you G35 folks might be able to give advice, helpfull advice like maybe answer the questions that I have, maybe tell me if you know of any Infiniti G series with dual calsonic mufflers.

Promise I'm not being hostile I just have been searching google yahoo msn and can't seem to find a good dual muffler setup that is OEM to quiet it down some, only after market which will only make it louder.

Ok. Let's try this one more time. The VG you've got under your hood is not even of the same block family.

If you want to be quieter, go get hi-flow cats and have an exhaust shop swap out resonators.

I can't understand for the life of me why you'd want to FRANKENSTEIN a G muffler onto your Z.

It won't be less work. It may or may not work and you're going to have a hell of a time trying to get it to fit.

Why not just have a custom exhaust made? There are soooo many other better options that this one.

Smog free countries in CA???Ha? 1 muffler as apposed to 2? No resonators and trying to be quiet? Catolytic converters making your exhaust quiet? Spend an hour in a muffler shop asking questions!

Did you read any of the above???

Smog freecounties yes there two right where I'm at...

I want 2 mufflers DUAL

No resonators and trying to be quiet? I have resonators it is quieter with them

Catolytic converters making your exhaust quiet? Not sure about this 1

Spend an hour in a muffler shop asking questions! I spend many hours in a exhaust shop my little brother has one

This all started as just a idea wondering if the factory G35 muffler might give my Z32 a different pitch a quieter one. Possibley find someone that has replaced there OEM muffler and wants to part with the stocker. So I got a couple of ideas from some people. Thanks

He said counties, not countries. And cats are MUCH quieter than test pipes. Furthermore, stock cats are usually quieter than high-flow.

OUKNO,

My point in all of this is that you're making an easy problem REALLY hard by trying to integrate the G35 muffler onto your Z. An exhaust shop should be easily be able to tone down your exhaust without resorting to adding on a G35 muffler (which I still, honestly, don't think will fit).

Get cats and a different sized resonator. I'm sure the combo will make a very nice sound.
