Before anyone starts... I already searched and didn't find any write-up's on this...

I was looking to replace the struts on my S14 (Kouki) and put in new TEIN S. TECH lowering springs. But I can't figure out how to take off the springs/struts... The front ones make more sense then the rear. Any one know any write-up on this? Any help would be great...

in general a spring compressor will make everything pretty much self explanatory, just google spring removal and see what you get

What kind of struts do you have? If they are stock or stock replacements don't bother getting new springs unless you upgrade the struts because lowering springs will blow stock shocks in about 6 months.

As for removing the springs once you remove the assemble from your car there is one nut that holds it together in the middle up top, compress the spring like the guy above me said and then remove the nut and the whole assy comes apart.

about the struts blowing, that shouldn't happen since these manufacturers for these lowering springs claim that they will work for the stock struts because the spring rate is decreased...that's BS if they blow after 6 months.

I felt the same way after it happened to me.

I'm not saying it 100% will but it can and has before.

Yeah from now on Steve's name is guy or more over "that guy"

it probably depends on how much you lower the car right? A 2" drop will more likely blow the struts than a 1" drop I would imagine...

along the same lines as what "that guy" said, there's a writeup on importnut.com and ka24development.com for replacing springs, I'm too lazy to find links right now..sorry

i want to replace my stock springs with Eibach Sportlines. i heard sportlines give a maximum drop in the vehicle. But i'm concerned with 17'' rims, that i'll still have a good sized wheel gap. I currently have KYB GR-2 shocks as well

Can anyone post of some pics of their S14 on aftermarket shocks and lowering springs?

I hate the damn car rides so high now

just take off the bolts 3 at the top 1 at the bottom pull whole assembly hit the nut at the top with an air drill and watch your strut fly

Either way you look at it its going to take you about 7 hours with new shocks i believe it took 10 hours (minus a few for breaks) to put in my s tech springs and make sure you get the right strut compressor go to orielys autozone is stupid about those kinda things but yeah what every one else said its not hard just time consuming

Why not just download an FSM, that will tell you everything you need to know. Mine comes in handy all the time, including when i changed my struts.

Ive been running Tein S-Techs on my car for about a year now without any negative side effects. I'm also using KYB AGX struts, and I have loved it.

7 hours though...seems about right if you get some bolts that are being stubborn and can't afford power tools..

7-10hrs???? Holy sh*t man!! You need some guidance. That job should take you no more than 3 hours for a newb.

I've learned that sh1t happens when doing jobs:lost tools, stubborn bolts, situations that involve the terms "OH SH1T!!"..10 hrs is totally realistic for a newb replacing springs IMO. (like an all-day job kinda thing)

mentordrift, did you run the KYB AGX struts with the s-techs for that whole year?

lol there's only 16 bolts necessary to drop both the front and rear struts/shocks, then its just using the spring compressor to take the 4 bolts off of the ends.

I got these springs in the mail today, I'll throw them on next week and see how they'll hold up they had the official orange "D1 professional drift series" banner on the box lol I hope they are stiff, couldn't tell by just smashing them down by hand on the driveway. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...08851
