So there is this group in town who is very serious about drifting and grip driving. In it consists of many 240sx's and Truenos. Well sort of, there's like 8 people. BUt still these guys are so freaking nuts. Every weekend they go up to the hillsides and run down the hills drifting or gripping every corner. They are serious about this stuff and it is frightening how good they are. Near everyone in that little group has an SR20, except one, but he's getting an RB25 swap, and the Trueno's are crazy as well. Think turbocharged and supercharged trueno's. These guys will be some tough competitors in upcoming California drifting events.

The most frightening thing is, they have seen me screw around a little and have invited me to go hang with them on these little fun runs. So question is, should I go and play with these boys? They are all older than me (20 and up) as I'm only 18. My silly little stock SR20 with my KYB suspension and my lack of seat time would embarass me. But then again they mayb be able to teach me. So, what should I do?

up to you, but i would go do it. if you're serious, though, the KYB's will only work for a little while. Drifting needs some pretty good suspension considerations. I take it you have GR2's?

Read up on how suspensions work and what you can do to maximize what you got. This is a nice little resource on track driving, but you may want to visit a Barnes & Noble's or some other book store and pick up suspension and driving technique books. They can give you a slight leg up, but will never amount to time in the hot seat.

And just remember this, those guys had to start somewhere too, so they know where you're coming from. Don't try to impress them as you'll only hurt yourself. Take your time and build your skill up

always get at the end in case it gets too hairy for you. If you are in the middle you have to keep up and you are more inclined to push past you or your car's ability and Nico mebership will go down 1 when you kill yourself. Stay in the back and go your own pace.

Yeah. You could call it a cartoon... Others will get on your case saying that it is "a highly technical and realistic automotive tutorial"... but it's still a cartoon :)

It's okay Megaseth, he's not up to par with sarcasm yet... =)

But yeah, I'm going to met up with them and see what's up. Check out their skill. My car is geared more towards track and road racing, and not drifting. But hey, I'll give it a shot.
