Hey guys just like th etitle says, im trying to find this out. I am about to buy a motorset and when it gets here i plan to put Tomei 1.2mm head gasket, ARP Head bolts, re ring the stock pistons, put all new rod and main bearings in and put all new seals and gaskets. Also going to put a new Power Enterprises Timing belt along with new timing belt tensioner kit. Im probably going to put a T3T4 on the engine when i get my current SR20DET sold, as well as some 600cc injectors and an enthalpy tune, but i wanted to find out if i can do 350-400whp safely on the stock internals. down the road i will be doing cams and valve springs as well but thats as time allows. i just want to get that ****ty stock turbo off the motor.

Thanks for all and any help!

Phil

wow... dumping the SR for an RB! Nice work!

I would consider 350whp safe. 400whp is generally considered the max for stock internals before it get's really risky.

A NICO mod. hit 495whp on achohal injection with stock internals... Don't know if I would call that safe though.

Carl's about to push some big numbers with his buildup... watch for more on that.

yeah i know carl, actually prolly gonna go see him in oct when im up in NC. i love the SR to death, i beat my first cobra with it at only 312whp... but its time for a rebuild or a change, and i chose change.... im looking for about 375-400whp but ill prolly stay on the 375whp side... out of curiosity, whats the weak link in the RB20DET's bottom end and why do they not make RODS FOR THESE MOTORS!! lol thanks man!

They have rods for it. A place in NZ has rods for them I think. You can get some made just have to send them a factory unit to Crower, or who ever. Wait time is around 4-8 weeks. I was looking into getting some made but I was out of town working and couldn't get it done.

yellow4g63, do you know how much the stock internals can take safely? carl said your definitely the one to ask. i know one of the previous posters said 350-400 but if i ran 350whp daily driven and 400 at the track like once a month, id be ok right?

I don't have the answer yet . After I get my car running again I'll let you know for sure.
