does anyone have a service manual? i want to attempt to do an oil change on my J, have been doing tons of them for my motorcycles over the years but always just took the car in for oil changes and got my loaner, but now that the car is getting a bit older, i want to attempt to do some of my own oil changes to start to make sure they are done right....so how hard could to the car be other then that it holds more oil then my bike...but a few things:

- i have no idea what the torque specs on the drain plug are?- where is the drain plug? i have no idea where it is...- and where is the oil filter located on this car?

thanks all...

Dont worry about torque specs on a drain plug, just do it like the germans.

Good en tight.

Drain plug is under the car, on the oil pan. Dont mistake the oil pan for the transmission pan. The transmission drain plug is much larger.

The filler cap is on top of the enigne front passanger side.

thanks driver driver, cool someone else in town...

dominik, the filler cap is easy, hehehe....the drain bolt and oil filter whas what i was looking for, hmm...is it towards the back for the drain bolt? apparently on my buds corolla its fairly easy access he doesn't even need a jack to get under there to drain his old oil...same case for ours?

youd have to be pretty skinny to get under there without that..... you could do it probably though, on a non lowered Q its possible, kinda......

personally i pay the $20 US and bring my own oil so i dont have ot get on the ground.

You will have to jack it up, mainly to get to the filter.

Its on the passanger side, just follow the exhaust to the engine and you will see it.
