want more horsepower on my 96 J30

i want to increase Hp on my 96 J30 without it hurting my pocket too bad i have a K&N air filter which improved it slightly but want more does anybody suggest cheap, effective, not to technical adjustments or mods i can do. i guess im just tired of these BMW punks trying to test the J i would like to prove them wrong.

time to buy a new car- you have a heavy vehicle with only a 220hp v6....newer designs are pushing 300hp+ out of their v6 motors-new g37 will be 330hp you will never modify cost effectivly to match these new cars,period

that would defeat the purpose though yeah new cars may be faster but if that was the idea we would not have hot rods ect.. i seen a J30 with some mods take out a new g35 dont know what he had but you should have seen the look in that guys face after he got burned (priceless)

Do they come stick?If not look for a Z32 trans.Then grab the Manifolds and turbos, fab up an exhaust.

Or... Drop a VQ30DET in it 280hp stock.Buy a boost controller and spank'em.

Other than that custom headers, Cold air intake, exhaust. Nitrous.

About the only thing one can do is a VG30DETT graft along with the manual.

Actually, i think a VH45 swap would be much easier than the VG30DETT swap. The twin turbo swap sucks big time, its not easy at all!!

300HP in a J30 even with the automatic would be pretty fun, mainly because it weighs 500lbs less than a Q
