hey everyone... i've been looking at 240sx's today and have decided that i would like for it to be my next car... so i come in hopes of some info... pretty much i'd like to know what to look for and what to watch out for... i'd be buying a 95-98 style i believe (correct me if i'm wrong)... i currently have a '93 mr2 turbo so i know the 240 won't be as fast but it's just so sexy so how can i resist  so if anyone can give me some pointers, that'd be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance

There is much info to be found here. More specific questions would help.

Chances are you know it's RWD, Front engine, and came in 2 body styles, each with their own variations. I'll skip the S13 info since you seem interested in the S14.

95-98 is the S14 model, with 95-96 being the Zenki variety, and the 97-98 being the Kouki. They look similar but have minor differences between them. 95s are quite common, as that was the year the produced the most S14s. 95s can also be OBD-I or II emissions, while everything afterwards is OBD-II. All S14s had the same engine; the KA24DE. Underpowered and originally from a truck, it's what we get stock. There are a few options the S14s could have came with, the most sought after are the VLSD and 5 lug. Obviously these are rare and go for more. Other options include an audio package, ABS, power options, Sunroof, front lip and spoiler. Late model S14s also had a sideskirts option. The most common problem with S14s is the broken trim around the radio due to it's rather poor design :D I guess not that big of a problem, but after that, I can't think of much. Zenki S14s have the problem of the headlights turning yellowish, but that can be cleaned up to an extent. There is also the universal KA problem of the timing chain rattling, but that can vary in severity and sometimes doesn't mean it's going to fail anytime soon.If you're looking to get your ride mad jdm tyte, there are lots of options. Several engines fit in 240s, and there is a ton of aftermarket support. Granted, the S14 isn't quite as looked after as the S13, but it still has plenty. If you don't believe me, just click a few links of our sponsers and check out the stuff they carry. I think I've covered most of the basics. Welcome to NICO :D As was previously mentioned, 90% of questions you may have have already been asked, so try our search feature. If you have trouble finding something, ask away and I'm sure someone can answer.

Turbo kits can be found/made for the "truck engine" (which was actually in 240's/Altimas before a truck.) under 3 grand.Swaps can be done well for under 4. Either will get you considerably faster times if you're into drag racing.
