Hey John...totally off topic but whatever happened to the digital coolant temp gauge you all made that fit into the stock s13 cluster? I would so buy one of those.

Subframe braces are holding up beautifully btw. Hardware has some surface rust, but that's it.

Coolant temp gauges.

I made about 15 by hand.

Handed off prototype to an EE, and an ME.

Spent about $2500 in man hours getting the boards designed, plastics rendered and prototyped etc, more refined software written.

I was going to have to go in another couple thousand just to get all the circuit boards made (hundreads) at a profitable rate.

Then tooling plastic molds, and running that was going to be a killer as well. What would have made it profitable was to have it the "brain board" interchangeable with a bunch of different applications "display" boards and do a whole breadth (not just nissans) of applications.

All in all, the company was NOT positioned for it last year, and still is not now. In two years we might be.

Surface rust already? Faster than I had thought. So-Cal was just under 2 years.

Stainless hardware is too brittle, the surface "rust" is a reaction with the black oxidize. There is another coating I am considering, but the RPSport Subframe Support Braces have not hit the sales volume to justify stripping and processing the hardware like that.

If you have any major issues with your hardware (you really shouldn't), please write me asap and I will fix it.

Yeah, it's holding up fine just last time I was under there I noticed the surface of the hardware looked to be rusted. I'll let you know if I experience any problems.

Yeah, its just the outer coating, it should NOT rust in. The hardware is ISO, ANSI, ASTM, DIN, ROHS, Fasteners Quality Act, and HR1183 certified.

I did NOT cheapen out when it came to the fasteners for the braces. For the amount of load they absorb, because of the new design, I had to use a really incredibly durable fastener, while not going up to $2 per bolt. At the current manufacturing and sales forcasting, I won't be able to back that number down far enough for "Blank Zinc" (almost the same finish as black anodized, only shinny) processing. Its beautiful, looks perfect with the brace, I just didn't want to raise the cost $10 per set.

Back to the subject at hand... are you guys excited about a KA plug and play. I am making it happen!

Affordable plug and play is the key. If it's not affordable, plug and play goes out the door, especially since a full standalone harness and sensors isn't all that difficult to install yourself. Anyone stepping up to a standalone should be able to handle running a harness...lol.

However, Haltech does makes a great product. If you can get a full standalone plug/play system available for 1K or under (COMPLETE) it'll sell pretty good. Just so long as we don't have to buy a bunch of other crap that goes with.

After all, we're in a recession. If Haltech goes the extra mile and makes this affordable in support of America, well that's a win in everyones book.

So I am updating this now.

Here is the ecu this will be based off of.

http://www.haltech.com/index.p...id=86

Sprint 500 ecu.

Resoultion is 16x16.

MSRP is only 945 with a flying lead harness.

Please follow the link to read about the trade off's using this ecu.

I want to start a group buy now for the flying lead harness version of these units (need 10). And this initial user group will receive a very high level of R/D on RPSport's part to get settings and maps down.

Meanwhile we will be working towards a patch loom.

This is the LEAST expensive full EMS and conversion to a map + air temp (No more MAF) setup out there now.

Here is a better explanation I posted over on the KA-T forums.

If you are interested please write to me @ [email protected]

John
