first off. Putting on a hot air intakes (you'd call it a Cold Air Intake) won't do anything for you. All you'll be doing is sucking air up from the engine bay, which is nice and hot.

2nd thing wrong with that statement. Cheap.... Honestly. Don't cop out on stuff that is necessary. If you get a "cheap" intake then they probably put a cheap POS filter on it. The last thing your engine needs is crap being sucked in.

what about the ghetto air box for the older gens? I donno man, but 50 cent for a coat hanger is pretty cheap and has dynoed better than a bunch of the CAI and WAI out there. So i'd say it def DOES something and it can be rather cheap too. I just ordered my JWT Pop chargr, should get here monday or tuesday

Could you be any more negative??

Well...to the OP, as far as cheap...there are cheap ones out there...I made my own for my Maxy for about $45 dollars using 3 pieces from auto zone (not the red dryer vent looking stuff...the actual intake stuff).

Now Darktide is correct in the fact that most intakes marketed as "Cold Air Intake's" really do not pull in cold air. True cold air intakes actually have to be run outside the engine bay, mostly through the fender well. These give you high end RPM gains.

As for WAI there are many options. They give you more of a low end RPM gain. I'm pretty sure Cattman makes intake for the 4th gen, as well as Injen and such. Just do a google search and check out places like Stillen and the like.

I decided to do a warm air set-up (I just routed my intake to the stock location using the existing duct work that used to bring the air into my stock box) because my car tends to lack a quick throttle response and I decided I'd sacrifice a little high end HP for some better rev's.

I've seen the Ghetto box done before that McSteve mentioned...I'm sure it would be an improvement on the stock box. I think it would act the same way as a WAI and just make it rev quicker.

So it pretty much comes down to whether you want a little quicker revs or you just need that high end HP help.

As far as filter goes...really it doesn't matter HOW cheap you go intake wise, you can always replace the cheapy filter they give you with a good one like the AEM Dryflow.

Either way good luck!!!
