Good Luck finding a place to do that swap, I'm in Houston as well, probably gonna order my RB20 or RB25 from Venus-Auto and deffinetely do the swap myself. I know Protech in Austin has done an RB swap, I sold an employee my old S14. I got a shop so hopefully the swap won't be too hard of a deal. How soon u plan to do yours?-will

You mean Tri's RB26 motor that is still sitting on the shelf in the back of Protech along with his motorless S14.5? Or would that be his K6 Blitz turbo and manifold sitting on the wall for all to marvel?

In simple terms... no RB swap yet.

However, we did a V8 swap and I'll be doing my RB swap sometime. Feel free to let us have a crack at it when you get around to it.

WOOHOOOO!!!!! im also in houston, and im looking for a shop to do the engine swap... and a little bit more ;) i have a special build i want done and if there is a shop here in houston that wouldnt mind taking a crack at it, please drop me a line. lets just say im discovered australias little rb secret ;) MWAAAHAAAAHAAAAAAAAA i have some badass plans and im really hoping to find a local shop who can help me with this prodject.

I am not mechanically inclined, but i have a little baseline knowledge, and know a few little tricks. but i have neither the skill nor the equipment to do the install myself.

With our COMPLETE install kit you could do it you self, or have some one else do it for you..

Mack,

Just curious... what does the COMPLETE install system detail?

From your web site it details the "engine & transmission mounts & driveshaft" for $1150, the S13 RB25det intercooler kit for $900. What else is needed?

Senko,Here is the catch, and why I don't work on projects like this -- if you bought a clip for $3000. Mack's kit for $2000... and brought it to a "installer" to put everything together... for labor it is probably around $1000 (20 hours @ $50 hour)... catch is if the motor is DOA, or has major uncovered issues, suddenly you have a DEAD vehicle with a $6000 bill. :(

If we did it, we would have the capability to bring in parts to make the car ... undead.

Who pays to make it "un dead"? :D

Side note... does anyone in the USA stock RB water pumps? timing belts? etc? I realize there are few engines here, but would like to replace both items (cheap insurance) before installing a RB into the S13.

So you've called Lightspeed and discussed this with Tom? I doubt it....Not saying you haven't but I really doubt it since I've had a few conversations with Tom about the RB swap.

As of right now my car is the only SR he has swapped completely. He has had swaps brought to him where people who tried to do it themselves messed up. And Lightspeed did everything with my swap including the rewiring. Lightspeed has 2 more SR swaps lined up and one SR being worked on at the moment. Not to mention all the business he has with 300zx's. I consider Lightspeed to be the most Nissan oriented shop in Houston. If anyone could do it correctly in Houston I would say it's Lightspeed.

Random photo from Lightspeed's web site. Don't know the folks, but like to see someone who knows how to weld (can not see the detail -- looks like a TIG welder, cool!), but also someone who took the time to get their ASE cert!

well I am going to try the swap myself and if I mess it up I am glad I can count on Light speed to be there to get me out of a bind however I am still worrying about the best deal for me to buy a motor.

ok old post but oh well, and heres the thing. No offense to you guys at McKinney, you do some awesome work, but your prices are way too up there for me. and im going to try and talk to my freind in australia who is giving me the rb30 and see what the prices on clips there are. cuase if im going to be shipping the engine, it might be cheaper just to ship both together.

OK now, i know this may sound mean, but why would i pay McKinney or Unstable for a VERY expensive install kit? and then pay shipping ontop of it? when i have my freinds here at Lime Creek Motorsports who can make custom motor mounts? (thats if the stock ones truly do not work). The prodject is going to be time and money consuming, but its worth it in my eyes.

After waiting for about a year and a half on an oil pan that was suppose to take about 2 months. I've given up on this clown that's getting it for me. Don't ask me why I waited so long and seeing that we're backed up for months on work. I would gladly pay Mckinney the amount they're asking for to finish my swap. A lot of people getting into this swap have no idea how much money and time it goes into doing this. I just bought a new motor(which is complete and not taken apart) so the swap should be done soon.

I do not know many shops that do more NISSAN work than we do. We can do any transplant or nissan service you need forthat matter, just call us. If you need more info check the page. We deal direct with Japan weekly, and can get ANY and ALL RB parts brand new from Nissan Japan.
