Hey, Just wonder what is a average price and a reputable place to buy a CA18DET from.

I am looking at getting a 240sx for around 800$ thats the worse of the worse. Auto and SOHC So i figure get a front clip and convert it all.

I just wanted to know if 2k$ is a good price for a front clip.

I also had a quick question is wiring a CA18det into a SOHC chassis just like doing a Ka24de swap but you have to add a extra wire for the knock sensor?

Thanks

2000 is probably a good ballpark, give or take. i would check out the thread just below "where did you get yours." itll give you a good idea on where to start.

the swap should be just as you mentioned. just like the sr/kade swap. its pretty straight forward.

just dont go to http://www.flashoptions.com they have a class-action lawsuit against them right now. apparently theyve been taking peoples money and not sending anything out, or sending out the wrong stuff, locked engines, etc.

Just remember to do your research. I went through about 10 sites looking for mine, constantly finding "dot buy here"s on different websites and forums. I have some friends in a car club who recommended http://www.jdmenginescorp.com. They dont have a clip I dont think, but they have the engine.

I got a my ca18 halfcut from http://www.jarcoinc.com for 2000 shipped. They also included a vlsd, fuel pump, and down pipe. Plus, they gave me pretty good tech support and were very professional. My engine has been running great for almost 3 years now.

There really is no need to get a clip. As long as you get a complete motorset you should be fine. Most clips don't come with any "goodies" on them anyway. And unlike the SR, the the KA radiator is perfect for the CA (in terms of location for the inlet and outlet).

i dont know about you guys, but a few good shops around me sell them for around 1400-1600 for a ca front clip. and just the motorset for about 1200.
