That's an air-cooled motor tho. The V8 being made has a full cooling system. :)

I had watched both the V12 video and the blown V8 video earlier today. I've spent the whole day looking at scale models, R/C cars and planes, and these engines. I wondered how or where these people get their stuff. I didn't realize how intensive they were. I'm wondering how difficult/impossible it would be to make a matching mini 5 speed to hook up behind it and then put it in the most awesome R/C car ever. I know they have those 2-speed trannies, but I want to see an actual mini transmission that functions. Oh, and now another of the most awesome things ever:

^^^ That is a link to an R/C helicopter with an AA-12 on it. Yes, an AA-12 on an R/C helicopter.

Not really as the guy that's building it said 4 stroke motors that small don't really produce much power. You'd be better off with a two stroke motor. However that supercharged v8 probably makes a decent bit of power for it's size since it's forced induction.

This thread delivers. That has to be the coolest little project I've ever seen. He should built a go-kart engine.

I had the sound off so I didnt hear that lol. Just give it time. If these engines take off in production, they'll be tuned and making hp in no time. Still I think even only 10 hp would move an RC body quick!

I still want one just for the hell of it

Amazing, but I have to wonder why he chose to mimic such a relatively inefficient design.

If anyone wants to see more of that 1:3 Ferrari like I did, here is a better link to videos, pictures, and information:

Your an idiot.Their simple.Last time i checked making v-tec(yo!) in that small of a scale would be retardedly hard and because it's a cool factor. The fastest car in the world is based off a pushrod motor so i wouldn't consider a pushrod motor inefficient

Massive waste of talent. Why not put it to use and build something functional and possibly make some money.

i am pleased with the work done here although i don't understand it i simply respect it. Also, i wonder what these guys could do on custom engine blocks. how cool would that be to make a full aluminum engine by yourself

You're taking my statement a little personal dude.

BB and SB engines have one of the lowest HP/L ratios of any engine, ever. That is a simple fact.

This type of engine/platform lends itself perfectly to a short stroke, high RPM screamer ala F1 style.

I wasn't aware he was putting his talent to waste... What does he do for work? Gardener? Custodian?

That is some fantastic work. This cracked me up:
Cross valve cages off the list. HOLY CRAP!! there are alot of them!!

Dunno how many of you guys have done manual lathe work making a relatively large quantity of small simple-ish parts... But god damn it takes way too long and is very boring.

^ THIS.

Especially when they all have to be the same tolerances and there's no jig to work from.

Because a 2.4 liter 18,000 rpm F1 V8 engine isn't exactly something you can find a full-scale model of (or specifications for) .

Plus, miniaturization has its limits.

Can't you just appreciate it for what it is?

No hitman he can't.Nothing is ever "oh wow that's sweet",Or "wow I'd never be able to do that".

Nothing can ever be just cool, there's always some flaw in the design that will plague the coolness factor for pmq
