All make "economical" solutions to the higher price point of today's cutting edge performance tire.

I've sold and installed and ridden on three of the four you have listed, and they all do an OK job, but are not on par with the high end performance tires(Michelin, Bridgestone, etc)

I had a long reply written up, but there's the short version.

If it was up to me, I'd save and get better tires.

heres the thing. I just bought some new 17" wheels sized to where i could get the widest track possible without serious chassis modifcation, and sized to where i could strech a tire properly for drifting. My dad got them for me for a graduation present, and he is quite a 'ricer' and threw a fit when i told him i was just going to use my stock s14 alloys for street driving since i wouldnt be messing up thoes tires, and the tires i use for drifting will deffinitley take a lot of wear. So he wants me to use the alloys for drifting, which is assanine because i sized the 17s specifically FOR drifting. So to please him(make my car look pretty) and to get the best performance out of my car, i am probably going to have to street the 17s for a while.

that aside, i have roughly 500$ that i saved for a set of tires. Now i could get a set of es100s or similar, but then i would be screwed once i ruined them. So I was shopping around ebay for sets of used tires, which can be had for ~ 150-200$ for a matched set in around the sizes i am looking for, 225-235. But then i found you could get the previously mentioned "bargain brand" tires for ~ 300$.

so i am having a hard time figuring out what to do. I want grippy tires in the front and anything that will fit in the rear, harder compound the better, i dont have enough money to worry about what compound i am doing burnouts on.

my idea was to buy 4 es100 or similar and 2 used tires, 2 good tires on the front 2 used on the back, when the used blow rotate front to back and put other 2 good tires back up front. But I dunno.

any ideas would be good

so you went and got wide, expensive 17" wheels, and only saved 500 for tires?

...

also, you're dads right, use the stock wheels for drifintg until you learn it very, very well....and have more money. you smack one curb(and you will) and both that wheel and tire are toast.

my suggestion? save up and get good tires. hell, get some kumho "break loose like a hoe" tires if you're just gonna burn them out anyways...

sounds like you overstepped your budget with those wheels bro.-chet

no man i can get good tires, not like s03s good, but i dont want to since im gonna trash them, trying to find a happy medium.

just FIY but the wheels basically cost 800$ a set regardless of width, its like 20 dollars difference between 17x7 and 17x10

edit - my life got a lot easier, i traded 1 of my sets of stock s14 alloys to a local guy for a set of 17x7 enkei rice wheels and they have nitto 450s and michelin pilot sports at like 80% tread. and my wheels had half tread toyo m+s asymetrical tires and assuretys. straight up trade no cash. woot.

If you're on a budget, definitely try the Kumho 712s...and the 711s are super cheap...

I've seen Kumho throw tread a LOT. Unloading 240_keyys drift car, every one of the Kumhos had thrown their tread. Not too great when that hits your pretty paint.

Pretty paint on a drift car?? j/k

Yeah, they do chunk...but you can't expect too much for that price...

Although I did run some Kumho KH11 (summer performance touring) and these were great in the rear, wore evenly down to the belts, just kept going...

go on tirerack and look at all the reviews for the sumitomo htr Z II, it has ALOT of great reviews for the price. you can get a 265/40/17 for like $123. I read all the reviews, and I think dollar for dollar they can't be beat.
