Weeelll, Im trying to figure out why my damn RB20 wont start, running a few tests and what not, and out of the blue my fuel pump made a "Gasp <cough cough>, Im not gonna make it" sound, and quit.

Brand new Walbro 255, just put it in yesterday. Ran all day yesterday with no issues, but today it just died. The relay is fine, I changed it out and nothing. The fuse will automatically blow when installed with the relay, or when the relay is put in. I checked all my wires, re did the fuel pump wires, and made sure it didnt ground out and blow my pump. I was just sittin in the drivers seat when it happened, thinkin of stuff that could be wrong, so it wasnt anything I might have done.

Is there an internal fuse on the pump by any chance, or anyone have this happen before?

wait.your fuse is blowing all the time, and you still tried to run the pump by bypassing the fuse?

that is what killed it, you have an electrical problem.

I didnt try to bypass the fuse, I just said that the fuse blows whenever the ignition is turned on and the relay is in. I already checked all my wiring for the fuel pump, its all good to go. I have about a hatch-full of old, spare, and junk parts in my car, so Ill clear all that out (again) tomorrow and check out the fuel pump (again). This is like 2 steps forward, one step back, I swear.

The Walbro was running constantly, and I hear they are supposed to run until the line is pressurized, then quit. Maybe that was the issue, I just overworked it. I mighta picked the wrong black/pink wire on the RB harness.

not really, if that was the case the pump would kill itself under normal driving cause it runs constantly when the engine is running. to wire it like 100% STOCK yes its only supposed to run for 2 seconds but running longer will not hurt anything provided your fuel pressure regulator is working.

walbros are crap. Killing it in a day, however, sounds like you did something wrong. But I've had two walbros fail on me

Be sure to check and assure that all of your grounds coming off of the engine and chassis harness are grounded. There are a lot of little ones that you could have overlooked. I ran direct power on a switch for my first project... for this new one I am going to run one that uses an ignition trigger to activate the relay instead of just a switch (don't forget an inline fuse as well).

I'm running a MKIV Supra pump on my project, so I will let you know how that goes. If you want one I found a good price on http://www.teamfc3s.org in their store. They are not cheap, but I think you get what you pay for most of the time.

I'm running a walbro and is fine.. I agree with Kamin if not too much trouble connect the old pump back and see if it blows the fuse again.

1stly, how big is the fuse? You need a fuse a couple of amps bigger than what the pump is ACTUALLY drawing.
