Here is an ideaBUY A NEW O-RING

It is SUPPOSED to be replaced. That is why in the FSM there is a picture of an "x" next to it meaning replace once you open the fuel pump cover. Once youe seat the pump on it it will stretch and will be useless for the next time you remove the pump.

It's is like $5 and will fit in like it should AND it will also seal properly.

glue does work. i should know. that's how i get the ring to seat (they're usually a bit on the small side and must be stretched to fit when new). It was recommended that I do that by a nissan mechanic who's been wrenching for 20+ years and is considered one of the best mechanics in town

Remind me never to have the best mechanic in your town work on my car.

To each his own I guess, i'd rather do things proper and spend the couple dollars instead of glue a bad oring to the gas tank.

Anyways as another half *** method (no offence) cut the oring anywhere, so it looks like a big long noodle, now place it back where it should go, now just trim off the excess so that it makes a complete ring without overlapping.

umm..new orings don't sit properly. they're slightly too small. the glue is to keep it in place. the moment gas hits the glue, it dissolves and isn't an issue anymore. the glue is there as a temporary placeholder. And in the year that I did that o-ring, it hasn't leaked or slipped.

Im hot sure what O-ring you guys are talking about, but im talking about this hard round black plastic ring that needs to be un-screwed off to get the fuel pump assembly OUT... Anyways, it was done and screwed back in, i just needed to rest over night and calm down. But its done, the walbro is in..!!!

ummm sure they don't. Nissan makes an OEM replacement oring that doesn't fit properly I've replaced that oring 3-4 times and it always fits into the groove perfectly.
