If you aren't going for super big numbers and plan to run a reasonable fuel pressure within the pumps limitations I don't see a problem with them. There are lots and lots of people who put walbros in their 240's and I have only read once about someones pump giving up. Some of the guys who run over 500+ hp run dual walbros.

Walbros do fail sometimes. IMO, they usually get a bad rap for something that isn't their fault. Many times it is the crappy stock wiring that leads to pump failure/pressure problems. When you push a high volume fuel pump, it draws more current. The stock wiring has a hard time supplying this current. I thought mine was going out b/c it sounded really weak when priming. After I hardwired it through a relay, the problem went away.

I properly wired walbro should provide plenty of fuel for well over 400whp.just my 2cents

Walbro is more than adequete. Just make sure you get the right fuel sock for the s14 if that is what you drive. They really don't make a install kit for the s14 and the s13 sock faces the wrong way and doesn't angle down. There is a guy here in AZ that sells the right one.

Good point in regards to the wiring, I ran some 12 gauge for it.

I've been running a walbro on stock wiring and its lasted me almost 2 years and around 20,000 miles in two different cars. Its powerful and quiet and bolted right in. I think its a good product. And btw they are good for about as much power as you would want to make on a street car on pump gas.

s13 bolts right up and uses the walbro sock. YOu won't have any problems as long as you hook it up right.

Just drop the walbro right in. You don't need to run a new line for it.

I bought the kit that included a new mount and a new sock and it was like 110 shipped. I think they have come down in price. I would not modify the wiring for your goals.

the denso fuel pump is 235 and the walbro pump is 100, is the donso pump worth the extra $135?

the walbro is used by lots of people in lots of cars with no problems, and is a very good pump. you can pay for what you think is good if you want to though.

The Denso Fuel Pumps for Nissan's & Infiniti's on Sparkplugs.com range from $100-$150. Let me know if you have any questions.

on the issue of hardwiring, is the stocker's voltage affected directly by headlight/radio/etc... draws?

Yes, your headlights especially draw a large amount of current when they are first turned on, but the in rush current will only change for a short period of time (1-3 seconds). The pressure regulators, etc. are made to handle this change though without affecting the other components, so this "hick-up" in current is insignificant enough that it should be properly adjusted for without affecting the fuel pump. So if the other components (alternator, as was already mentioned, etc.) are functioning properly, the change would be insignificant.

The main issue with hardwiring is the fact that things like relays and the small factory wiring add a great deal of unnecessary resistance to the circuit and cause a voltage drop to the pump. For a true performance application (300+ hp) the pump should be rewired with a significantly larger gauge wire and using a heavy duty relay (relays are important to use on applications like this to not place a lagre load directly on the ignition switch). Of course any system would benefit from rewiring but for stock or close to stock cars it isnt necessary.

i just ask because fc's are notorious for this issue, and on turbo models running lean leads to catastrophe really quick.
