Walbro fuel pump question for sr

Is our oem fuel pumps ( 89 240sx ) inside the tank?? as in do i have to take the tank off to reach it???? wanna install that tomorrow mornin...

Got invited to the track but dunno if i should run it... i just started drving it today...

Think i should?

Yeah, the fuel pump is in the tank. You access it from the trunk. Lift the carpet and there is a circular "lid" on the right hand side of the spare tire. open that **** up and there is another lid, that is the lid to the tank, and the fuel pump and its bracket are attached to that lid.

Here is a link to the step by step of doing the fuel pump yourself. I did it no problem. Although the one step about retaining the black zip tie and reusing it I didn't understand, cause there was nothing for that zip tie to strap around. You'll know what I mean when it is off. Goodluck.

Btw, I noticed the difference with the pump. With the OEM one, when I was at like 12psi and full throttle, it started to bogg out at like 150 - 160 kph. With the Walbro, it cured it. Took it to the track the next day, and WOLLA (however that is spelled).

The zip tie that is used on the stock pump is one that if you press the little clip it unlatches itself so it doesn't have to be cut, you just reuse it to zip the new pump to the the pump assembly/bracket so it doesn't move around or come loose.
