Well I saw this done for the 240 both s13 and s14 and thought, why can't the MY Maxima have a inexpensive front lip??

I don't know if this is article worthy but I'm sure someone will like it.

Here are my list of tools and supplies.

1 Roll of Duct tape.1 Roll of 3M clear tape (its the rubbery stuff)1 Pair of Scissors1 20" Roll of Garden Edge (purchased at Wal-Mart)

Total cost: roughly $10

Supplies:

I was bored tonight so I decided to do it even though it was a little too cold.

To prep the Garden Edge I cut the top edge off because it had some sharp lips made to keep it from being pulled out of the ground. Now I had a flat edge to work with!!

Here is a before shot. This was all done in a commuter lot at in my college campus at 11:30 tonight.

First I did a mock up using strips of duct tape so I made sure I had it cut a little longer than I needed so I could trim if need be in the end.

After lining it up, I replaced the duct tape with the 3m tape.

The same was done to the passenger side as the driver side, which is shown below.

To make it stick well I had to rub it really hard to heat up the tape to make it adhere well. After getting it secure and trimmed I took more duct tape and taped the inside of the lip to the bumper in multiple places.

Here are the after pictures:

I'll get some pictures in the daylight tomorrow.

I did this in less than 20 minutes. I have enough left over and I'm happy enough with how this turned out that I'm going to make another that is actually cut correctly for the curve around the bumper because if you look at the front it actually curves up in the middle. I'm also going to tape it completely around the bumper and do it when its a little warmer out so the tape sticks easier.

enjoi!!

Looks pretty good. A bit bowed in the middle but maybe that'll go away after it's been there for a while.

The only thing I really don't like about those hardware store lips is the rockers and rear bumper are still at normal height, so it looks a bit off.

Its bowed in the middle because I cut it straight but with the curve in the bumper, it caused it to bow. I'm going to make another one hopefully tomorrow cut with a curve so when it wraps around it will look straight.

As for the rest of the car yea I see your point but most factory lips came just in the front.

EDIT: oh and PLEASE don't forget I did this in 20 minutes...so its not a professional job!!

Thanks man!!

Its raining like hell today.

I really wanted to re-do it today too...oh well, it still looks good. That curve in the front bumper makes me mad everytime I look at it though. I'll definitely make the lip higher there so it sits flush next time.

Thanks to all for the praise!!

I think the next one I make I'm going to paint the same color or close to the bottom of my car so it matches a little better too!!

Wow this was a whole YEAR ago???

Makes me wanna put it back on...although as I learned about a month after I put that one on, its best to be done in the summer, or with a hair dryer.

I just think that putting it on while cold doesn't let the 3M stick like it should.

Hmmm...maybe if I get bored....definitely in the spring for sure!!!
