Hey guys, I'm new here. I'm going to be getting a 240 VERY soon, I'm just waiting on a phone call. I've been waiting for this guy to call me for 3 days or so now. I REALLY hope that he's going to call me today. It's starting to piss me off because I call him and get no answer, text him and no answer, or email him and get no answer. If I had known this was going to happen, I wouldn't have sold my Jeep...

Yeah man, I know how that feels. I found a really good deal for some rims and emailed the guy and he took forever to respond, so I called him but he was never there so I left messages. Finally he responded to the email several days later but there still wasn't a complete sale or anything. Luckily I found some better deals just last night so I don't think I have to worry about that though.

Anyway, good luck with getting the car. I just hate people that don't call at all. I mean, if there were delays or the guy changed his mind, the least he could do is call.

I find that the trick in these situations is to get as fed up and emotional as possible. That way it ruins my day.

j/k Hold tight. Make sure before you buy the car to get it checked out, and don't cut any corners. If the owner is too much of a douche to answer your calls after he set the sale expectation, he's probably got some hidden issues with the car.

or he might just have sold it already to someone that bought it on the spot. hard to do, but don't bind to sth if it's not at least already yours...

Some months ago when I was looking for a car, I would miss all the hondas cause everybody was going for something reliable (I live in a college town). Until I saw the black beauty (my 96 zenki). Didn't know 240s till then, but I fell in love. Nobody cares for 5 speed manuals here, so I managed to get it from a nice Jap guy with almost 80k miles. Both previous owners were Japs

Good luck, by calling him again and again you don't gain anything. He may be in some kind of personal trouble and the only thing you will do is to piss him off. Stay cool.

Well the way I see it is if he doesn't call you its because your going to find a nicer and cheaper one soon and would be ticked at yourself for buying this one. Just my two cents.

YES! He answered! I'll be driving it home tomorrow. Taking it to Tires Plus to get an inspection and everything to find out how much I'm looking at shelling out to get it to near perfect running condition. It runs decent, but a little rough. I know it needs a new belt and fluids, but that isn't going to cost too much though right? It sounds SOOOO good though, I don't know what kind of muffler and everything it's got on it, but it sounds reallllly good. It needs some interior work done to it, but nothing THAT bad. He painted it. IDK if it was rattle can or not, but its not too ugly or anything. He tried to do this whole rising sun ****, it's okay, but definatly going to go back to stock if not DARK purple. I want to do the whole car black and purple. But I think that $1800 for a 1990 240sx se isn't a bad deal. Am I right on that?

It's also got this really ****ty vinyl wizard mofo on it. It looks pretty stupid. Thats definatly coming off ASAP.

I'm going to pick it up tomorrow after I get out of church. I will DEFINATLY have pix up when I get home and after I've got it washed.

IMO, a 1990 240 for 1800 better be in damn perfect condition. i think you paid 1000 too much. painted interior and a rough running engine... oh well, i understand the need for these cars. hope its not going to break you, and its RUST FREE. post pics when you can.

. So. **** that guy. He took my $1800 and ran pretty much. Left me with a car that has a hole in the block.

Basicly, he took the car out after I got home, ran it REALLY hard, and now there is a hole in the block. He didn't tell me and I didn't know until after I signed the title and gave him the cash.

Technicly speaking, the car isn't mine yet. It's not registered to me. Correct me if I'm wrong. Please. I need to know. But since I haven't taken it and changed the tags over or ANYTHING yet, I can get my money back correct?

When I went to pick it up today, I figured that since I left his house around 11:30 at night, and we got there around 11:30 this afternoon, that it was still in the same condition it was in last night.

I told him the deal is off, and that I want my money back because he lied to me and said it was a running car and that I could drive it home. I'm not sure if Florida has any lemon laws or anything, but I'm going to the court house tomorrow and filling out a small claims packet and I plan on getting my money back.

Any suggestions? Am I doing the right thing? PLEASE help me!!!

Yeah dude. It sucks major hard. It's like getting bad head. You hope it gets better, but it doesn't and then you can't get off because all you can think about is how bad it sucks.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to get my money back or not. If I do, I found what seems to be a pretty sweet deal on an 1987 Rx7. If you buy that one, the guy is going to throw in a parts car for free.I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

That sucks man. That really does... I remember a 240 I went to look at, and the guy was hard to get in touch with. Really great price too, but he couldn't get it started when we got there. He found out it had a hole in the block too.

Hope everything comes out well for you.

Your story doesn't make sense. Why did you sign the title and pay without taking the car home. Why would you leave it there?

Edit: Is he refusing to return your money?

Last night he didn't have the title. It was at his mom's house right down the road, and they were out of town. That's why I went back today and payed for it and everything.

Dude... I'm sorry that you didn't take my advice. I told you he was a douchenozzle based on his poor communication.

Sounds like you were way too anxious to buy that car.

Huge bummer, though.

Yeah, I was really anxious. Too anxious. Good news is, I know where I can get a rebuilt KA and transmission for $400. Don't know if that's really a good deal or not, but it's a last resort if he doesn't give me my money back and theres nothing that court can do about it.

I'll have pix up tomorrow. Me and a buddy are going to St. Cloud together to pick up a small claims packet and shizz and to asses the damage. I'm going to bring my camera just so I can have pictures for my own personal files and stuff, but I'll definatly post em up. If anyone knows of any REALLY good deals on an engine and transmission set up, let me know. Im def going to keep my eyes WIDE open

reminds me of something i went through similarly with a 1990 CRX SI i wanted when I was about 18. I had a Bill of Sale and a title though so THOUGHT I could register it with no problems, and I also left with the car after giving him cash.

However, when I went to register it, the guy signed the title in the wrong spot (on purpose maybe?) so I couldn't get it switched over, even with the bill of sale.

Luckily, the guy was in the Army, but he had previously moved since he was here for about a month in an apartment before he was moving into his house. Luckily, he was in the Army, and my Grandpa was pretty high-ranking when he retired and he called a few of his friends, got his #, address, etc, and went to his house with one of his superiors and the guy "offered" to buy the car back from me. Shortly afterwards, I searched around for a bit and finally found my 240.

Live and Learn. Patience is key when buying a car you like.

I'll let you know how everything works out, if I can't get my money back, I'm going to jump all over that offer because I don't have a car...

well, I don't have one that runs.

I found a rebuilt ka24de and transmission on craigslist for $400 obo. That's another option I have too
