Well I had found the right 240 then the guy decided to back out becuase the other car he was going to buy had some pretty bad frame damage. So I went back to searching and found a 90 coupe. Now nothing against coupes but I like hatchs so much more. Its a 90 as stated before so its a SOHC. Its a 5-spd. The color is the dark gray color and it has steelys (wheels). So the two things I dont like about it are it being a coupe and SOHC. I live in Kansas and 240's are hard to find anywhere around here. Even in a 500-600 mile radius its pretty rare. So I'm trying to decide, wait for a 240 with a DOHC and a hatch or get this one now then trade it off for a DOHC/hatch alittle later? I will be learning to drift on it. Like burnouts 180's, some poweslides and if I can with the amount of power I'll have do some real drifting. Just learn the basics of the start of drifting on this one. Then get a hatch/DOHC then a little later a SR. Does that sound like a good idea/plan? Or just wait? (I've been searching for almost 4 months now lol).

The only one thing sorta fishy about the car is, it has a new transmission, injectors and head. Now the head is whats fishy. He said "i am not really a machanics kind of guy" so some shop or something must have installed the head. How he says all that needs does to the car is just put the timing chain on and aline everything and your good to go. Now my question is who in the world would put a head on and do everything and not put the timing chain on? I mean I dont want to get the car home and put the timing chain on and everything then find out that he lied or there was more problems that he didn't know about and he has my money and I get riped off. Does it seem odd to you or maybe its just me? Input on this too please.

Also, how much drifting can you do with a SOHC? Like burnouts, powerslides, 180's (the basics) and drifting can you do to learn on with a SOHC? Does the DOHC really make that much of a differance?

Sorry for all the questions. It would be awesome if I could get some input on all of this. Thanks.

Nate

I drive Sohc coupe. I personally like coupe but get DOHC.I turbocharged the engine couple weeks ago, believe me, it's pain in the a$$ to turboing SOHC. Only good thing i know about SOHC, I heard injectors are little bigger, I'm not sure, Maf sensor's bigger, coupe has extra structure behind back sit.

And without S13 front-end conversion, i hate its popup light pig front-end.

About drifting, all you need is LSD, good brake, and good suspansion. And mostly big walmart parking lot.

Well I'm not going to turbocharge it. I just want to buy this car to learn some stuff on, then trade it for a DOHC hatch, then a SR.

Just wondering, why do you say get a DOHC right way? If its becease of turbocharging the SOHC than thats not what I'm going to do.

If you're going to go SR eventually, why bother getting a DOHC? Seriously, if you're just learning the basics, 15 hp isn't gonna make that much of a difference. Just find a SOHC w/ a good body, and if it's the DOHC looks you're going for, you can just get the 91-94 bumper and extensions and it will look exactly the same.

If you are going to go SR anyway it doesn't really matter. The DOHC just has 15 more horsepower. Me, personally, I like the Hatchback better than the coupe.

well if you want to know the truth of the matter regarding your head, it sounds a lot like the issue i ran into. his chain probly effed up and he ruined his valves and got through part of the work before realizing how much it would cost and decided to cut his losses.

heres my advice: get a mechanic to look at it, even if it means dragging him out to see the car. youll be glad you did if you are serious about buying. have him make sure the head is in good condition. is it new? is it rebuilt? is it even complete? make sure its not warped or youll have oil leaking for as long as you have the car.

it is kind of fishy, but like i said, i can see how it would happen. if you dont have the money the shop WILL stop working wherever the money runs dry.

You can drift in a SOHC. It's recommended that you learn to drift in a stock car with little power, so you don't start out in something too much to handle. Get an LSD and prepare to go through some clutches.

I personally like the coupe more than the fastback. Coupes are more rare, and they are a little bit lighter (if that matters to you.) I agree - if you are going SR then it doesn't matter if it's SOHC. You just have to get over your fastback fetish, lol.
