this is a stupid question ........what is the thing that bolts on to the intake manifold and is rusty and has a tube that goes around the back of the motor to the exhaust manifold. i need to know cose mine is not bolted on and my engine will not stay on it just revs up and down then dies ... anyways i need a gasket to put it on ..so i need to tell the parts store what i need ..... so any help would be good

its the EGR, search for that on here and you will get all the info u need. i basically takes some of the exhaust gas and puts it back throught the intake to burn it again. reduces emittions. but ya its called the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) but just search for info on it

pictures would help for what gasket you need but it would be the egr valve tube . if the tube is unbolted from the valve you will need the gasket between the valve and the tube but if it is inbetween the actual valve and the intake manifold you will need that gasket...My suggestion would be go to the nearest nissan dealer and tell them what ou need they will pull up a picture of the entire assembly and you point out whats missing then order that gasket.....or be ghetto and buy a tube of gasket maker from your local parts store and goop her up...but i dont recommend doing that

I don't think so. A lot of people just block them off anyway. I don't reccommend that though because it doesn't do anything when at WOT anyway so all you are doing is polluting and not freeing up any power.

ok its not blocked off there is just a big @$$ hole in my manifold

First off....the EGR valve does not wrap around the back of the engine block. The tube is connected to the EGR valve and have a purpose. However it is called a recirculation tube.
