I've got A 1990 300zx NA Canadian model with more than one crazy electrical problems. First, the daytime running lights don't function properly. Only the left high beam comes on most of the time. At full voltage (the daytime running lights are the high beams at a lower voltage). They do operate properly from time to time, but only momentarily and sporadically. If there is a "pattern" to their operation I haven't found it yet. Second, the headlight washers don't work. When I press the button there is a drop in voltage but they never function. The windshield wipers do come on when it's pressed, but there's never any spray. Third, and most unusual, I've taken out the Bose system and put in new speakers and a new deck. I'm using the old speaker wires but have bypassed the individual amps. Here's the joke, the system works fine for about 10-15 minutes but "cuts out", no sound from the speakers but the deck remains lit up and fully functional. All of a sudden the sound will slowly cut out, as if someone is turning the volume down to 0. Now here's the crazy part, sometimes if I flick the headlight on and off the sound will come back for a bit. Sometimes if I turn the AC/heater fan from hi to low the sound will come back. And today I noticed if I step on the brake I can modulate the sound. Yes you read that right, if I step on the brake while the sound is fading out the volume will go back up to full. Anyone had this problem? I suspect I have a bad ground, but I don't know which one. I also suspect there's a short to the body somewhere. But I'm just guessing. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Is it in the same place on the LHD cars or is in in the driver's side wheel well? I've never even heard of this unit, what is it/do exactly? Thanks again.

Nice to know that you are a Canuck! I had weird problems with my electrical too.
Check(refresh) your engine , chassis and transmission grounds first. If in the slightest doubt, replace them, as a meter check will not work well. Remove all visible grounds and "refresh" the ground point and put a little lithium grease on the connections. Don't forget the grounding points under your dashboard!

As far as the Bose stereo is concerned, ditch it all. They are not compatible with a regular stereo and it seems like your stereo is "overheating". Improper impedance matching will cause that. 6x9's will fit just perfectly on 3/4" plywood plates for both the doors and the rear speakers. Just don't go too nuts on the size of the magnet drivers on the back and you'll be fine. A reasonable priced pair of Pioneer 6x9 can be had at Canadian tire for about $100 a pair.
