Mr1der raised an excellent point regarding the shortage of threads related to 1980s cartoons. Anyway, yes, I made a shiny new (and relatively needless) thread to do nothing but wax poetic on the animated shows/movies etc.. that played an important part in my life but are now gone.

Anyway, here we go.

Tranzor Z: Yes, the US version sucked compared to real "JDM" Mazinger Z, but to hell with it, the cartoon was still whupass. Am I the ONLY person who ever watched this show? No one else seems to have ever heard of it.

Exo Squad: This show was the jump-off bling-blang snippity snap snaps. I still want an E-Frame. Anyone else ever watch it? This show could have spawned an endless stream of neato expensive merchandise, all of which I would have bought, little of which was ever actually made.

James Bond Jr: This show not being rerun by anyone ranks is one of the great crimes of the 20th century.

Team Knight Rider: Yes, I know it's not animated, piss off, I still liked it. Remember the episode when the Beast got blown up? I have been completely unable to find even one episode of this on Kazaa...

The Ultraman Animated Movie: Ultraman, Barock, Mentor, The Ultra Fleet, that cool Guardian ship, this movie roxrz. I have it on Betamax to this day. I would commit countless atrocities to get myself a model/toy of the Guardian.

Alright, post your long forgotton shows, movies, etc....

Oh, and this isn't animated either, and it's a commercial, but does anyone remember the original "Miller Time" ads from the mid 90s? Specifically the one with the mouse dropping down out of the farm girl's skirt? Miller refuses to acknowledge that they ever even made these ads, they give me very nasty answers to my emails, but I MUST have all of them in viewable form before I die, they were the best commercials ever aired on US TV.

EDIT: Oh, and GO-BOTS. They were sort of a broken down transformers. Remember Leader-One? The F15 Eagle that transformed into a robot? I have a Leader-One coffee mug at my house.

Voltron, Robotech, He-Man,Gi-Joe, Transformers, and of course Thundercats.

Non-Animated: I also watched some cheesy-a$$ made for TV series, "The Black Stallion" which was supposed to be a spin off the movie that was made after the book by Walter Farley, it was so cheesy with morals at the end of each episode, it was also filmed in New Zealand. I also watched Knight Rider, Star Trek and Hawaii Five-O reruns during the summer when i was out of elementary school.

I am also very much guilty of watching TMNT, T-Cats, Transformers, He-Man, GI Joe, Voltron, Star Trek (incl. animated series), and a bunch of other things, but at first I only listed the stuff that's super obscure.

Samurai Pizza Cats was the truth too.

Unfortunately I just didn't ever catch Robotech, don't remember ever seeing an episode, which I need to remedy by purchasing those shiny boxsets.

My ex got me the Transformers movie for my bday a few years ago. I still watch it on those boring Saturdays. And I got G.I. Joe the movie on DVD. Some of the best cartoons we can't seem to remember the name of. For instance there was one where these 5 robots, all will different shapes and personalities, would join to form another big robot and the cartoon was so funny. Can anyone remember that? And no it wasn't Transformers or Go-Bots.

Greatest Transformer episode ever...the female ninja robot that had the hots for Optimus Prime. Followed by the creation of the Dinobots.

I don't want some rookie yelling Robotech and thinking they're the authority. So I'm gonna bring out some that didn't last too long.

Of course I already mentioned TurboKid...that rocked. Guy and his car was fused in an accident and whenever he got hot he'd turn into the car...when he cooled off he'd turn back into himself.

Bigfoot and the Muscle Machines...c'mon. You remember when Bigfoot and Gravedigger were the hottest things in the world.

Marshall Bravestar, just think Walker: Texas Ranger meets Star Wars...his robotic horse rocked!

Here's some slap yourselves on the head for not remembering...The Visionaries (had the animal spirits on their chests), the Centurions (all sorts of bolt on accessories), M.A.S.K. (KICKASS, say no more, say no more), The Battle Beasts didn't have a cartoon but they should have...the commercials rocked.

And I leave you today with....C.O.P.S. - Central Organization of Police Specialist protecting Empire City. I wanted to grow up the be Bulletproof Vess so baaaaad. Oooo. Okay...enought thinking back to the old days. I'm starting to get a pimple.

No, dude, not Voltron. I'm 28. I ate Voltron Cereal. I think I'd remember lol.

However my stupid cousin has shamed me and remembered instantly when I called him.

They were called the Mighty Orbots. More importanty...the little stinker directed me to a site to find them...and hundreds of other 80's cartoons. Cheater. Why can't he try to reach the depths of the human psyche like us, huh?

If anyone wants the link...here it is. http://www.80scartoons.net/toons/orbots.html

Centurions and Captain N were both cool, forgot about both of them.

Oh, the Sonic the Hedgehog show as well. No, not the crappy after-school one on fox, the Sat. morning ABC one with the "Fastest Thing Alive" theme song. I still have an unopened can of Sonic the Hedgehog Chef Boyardee Pasta. Nuts, ain't I?

UGH, the theme song to Captain Planet is still stuck in my head more than a decade later:

"Earth!Fire!Wind!Water!Heart!

GO PLANET!

With your powers combined I am Captain Planet!

Captain Planet, he's our hero,Gonna take pollution down to zero,He's our powers magnified,And he's fighting on the planet side"

http://www.retrojunk.com/media/53/

And their stupid rings with fire, water, and wind. While googling I found Captain Planet p0rn. *shudder*

While I loved the 80s, Tom and Jerry are among my favorites.

I never could figure out what "heart" was doing in there... I think it had something to do with a certain political side.

It's said that such a lame cartoon had such a memorable song. I was singing it before I even realized you posted the words.

Mainframe was hot but we were weired out because there was also a Mainframe on G.I. Joe who was a dude. And since C.O.P.S. was set in the future...

Animated Gender-Swapping perhaps?

Yeah, Silverhawks. Burger King had a Silverhawks coloring contest down here. One of my buds won it. That little alien elf looking thing was freaky.
