I had braces twice, the first time in second and part of third grade to avoid having surgery. Then I had them in 7th grade again to actually straighten my teeth... I still where retainers (4 years later) almost nightly just cause I don't want to go through that hell again and it's habit.

The first time around they gave me an expander. The roof of my mouth was too curved or something so they used this thing to flatten it out. Everyone once in a while we had to take this little crank thingy and crank it a little to make it spread my mouth out more. The orthodontist was retarded or something and we did the expanding thing too long, so they put me through unnecessary pain (remember, I was 8ish, I cried when we had to crank) for no reason... still pissed about that...

Actually was too broke to remove them. I also had a palate widener, and it is the worst thing evar. I have TMJ, and had a big time surgery that required my mouth being wired shut for 2 months.

ohh 180crafter u beat me, 6 years for me, my teeth were soo ****ed up. i had 11 teeth removed in the 4th grade bc my teeth were so messed up. I have beautifuly teeth now, an ugly face still but nice looking teeth

I wore mine for 41/2 years. My bottom teeth are starting to get messed up again, should have wore my retainer.

I was (somewhat) lucky and only had to have braces for a year, although I swear my orthodontist was Dr. Mengele's long-lost twin. He used to jack the wire tighteners up so friggin' hard that I would almost pass out from my tooth nerves igniting in sequence.

Also had to have 3 teeth yanked; 2 of which were molars with full roots, and the idiot dentist yanked the implacable 4-rooter LAST when the Novacane was wearing off.

In the end, though, it was worth it to have a str8t grille and not one that looked like a picket fence hit by a tornado.

I got lucky and had fairly straight teeth, they could use some work, and a lot of cleaning a touch of whitening now though....

I got bad teeth in the family it seems...mine are just straight atleast, hell, I have teeth under my wisdom teeth, crazy ****...

Thankfully my brother got the fuked up teeth and I got away with straight ones. but now that my moulers have come in they kinda messed up the one on the bottom front but not real bad.
