Ok I have a buddy who just finished up his NEO RB25DET swap into his S14 and his VVT works occasionally. You can tell the car has the same top end as other RB's that are in town but he can't even break the tires loose in 1st gear roll on. He has weak *** tires too. He said that it felt like it occasionally worked but most of the time didn't. Anyone have a clue as to what this would be?

I will try to have him post up, but I was just wondering.

lol

u sure its the vvt? id say more along the lines of maybe its warmer, maybes its colder. get more hp from the TURBO. maybe different areas on ground that allow traction.

the LAST thing im gonna check if i feel theres a power loss is VVT.

....lol

seriously, its not a honda with VTEC.

VVT does very little on a RB25.

Agreed, you probably have a major boost leak.

Ok, sorry if I came off n00bish. I don't deal with RB's. I have a built KA so I don't have to bother with a lot of this stuff.

On nissan japans website they had a graph showing the effect of the vtc function on the NEO rb25's. The Torque was improved a great deal. And I know on early 90's maxima there was an issues with vtc and many of us had to disable it. You could feel the difference in mid range torque. I think it conceivable it can be the VTC, but that's the last thing I'd worry about.
